Apply In-Person
- To report a crime in person, the person concerned or victim must visit the nearest Police station.

- Visit the nearest police station and inform that you want to report a crime. You will be directed to a police official in the Community service centre for an interview.
- The official will conduct an interview with you and then ask you to complete a complaint statement by about the incident.
- After completing, you will have to provide the documents requested by the police official to complete the complaint process.
- Then submit the documents and complaint statement to the official and after completion of required processes, your crime report will be registered in the SAPS Crime Administration System (CAS) at the police station.
- You will be given a CAS number which must be used for all enquiries regarding the reported criminal case.
- Then, further proceedings will take place accordingly and the allocated official will inform you about the process.

- To report a crime in case of emergency, you can contact your nearest police station or dial 10111 and report the crime without visiting the station.

- Find a nearest police station and make a call through your phone and inform that you want to report a crime.
- The police will attend the crime scene and ask you to complete a compliant statement on their behalf.
- Then they will obtain any witnesses from you if any. After that the reported crime will be registered in the SAPS Crime Administration System (CAS) and you will be given a CAS number via SMS or telephone.
- That CAS number will be required to be kept as reference for future enquiries regarding the criminal case.
- Then, further proceedings will take place accordingly and the allocated official will inform you about the process.

InstructionsEdit
- After registering the crime incident, a case docket will be opened and completed by the concerned official. The completed case docket is allocated to a police detective who will carry out the investigation.
- The detective in charge of the particular case will complete the investigation and present the docket to the relevant court for prosecution. The detective will keep you informed of any progress including when to attend the court hearings.
