Apply In-Person:
- To apply for raising a service issue related to tax in person, the applicant needs to visit the office of any nearest South African Revenue Service branch.
- The contact information of the branch offices of SARS are found in the following link: Link
- Remember to make an appointment before you visit a branch, through telephone or online. Also get cleared about the requirements to be attached with the application form.
- Visit the nearest branch with all the documents as instructed by the official that you contacted.
- Approach the relevant official in the office and seek assistance in completing an online complaints form.
- Comply with all the instructions given by the official and provide all the information related to the service issue that he/she asks for.
- Once you have completed the complaint lodging process, your request will be taken further to the relevant officials.
- Authorities related to that particular service issue will make necessary proceedings about the issue and inform you about the further progress.
Apply through eFiling - Raise a Service Issue (Complaint) related to Tax Online with Images
- To apply for raising a service issue related to tax through eFiling, the applicant needs to login to your eFiling account by visiting the following link: Link
- Visit the link and click “Login” button. Then, enter your username, click “Next” button and enter your password, click “Login” button.
- After logging in, click “Services” menu and access “Complaints” option under the menu. Then click on “New Complaint” button.
- If your portfolio is individual, click “Next” button, else, click “General” or “Taxpayer Related” button. If you have made the “Taxpayer Related” selection, ‘Click here to select a taxpayer’ hyperlink will be displayed.
- Click on it and ‘Taxpayer search’ screen will appear. Enter your Tax Reference Number in the search screen and click on the search results to get the Complaints Management screen.
- The screen will contain Complaints Management form which will already be filled with details of the selected taxpayer.
- In the individual portfolio, the form will appear just after you click the ‘Next’ button. Complete the form as required with necessary details and click “submit complaint” button.
- After submission, a submission success message will appear. You can also save the completed form for later submission by clicking “save” button.
- Once submitted, Complaint management work page will appear, click “upload supporting documents” in that page and corresponding dialogue will appear.
- Upload the documents by clicking “choose file” button and “upload” button. After completed submitting all the required documents, click “Submit to SARS” button.
- A confirmation message box will appear in which you have to click “Ok” button. Then, you can find the status corresponding to the supporting documents as ‘Submitted’.
- Once you have completed the complaint lodging process, your request will be taken further to the relevant officials.
- Authorities related to that particular service issue will make necessary proceedings about the issue and inform you about the further progress.
Apply through Telephone
- To apply for raising a service issue related to tax through telephone, the applicant must contact the Complaints Management Office of the South African Revenue Services.
- The contact number of the Complaints Management Office is as follows: 0860 12 12 16.
- Make a phone call to the Complaints Management Office and inform that you want to lodge a complaint related to tax.
- A SARS agent will engage in your assistance for completing a Complaints form online. The agent will make arrangements for the online form completion process.
- You will have to provide the necessary information demanded by the SARS agent. You will also have to provide any document related to the complaint.
- You may be asked to send the scanned copies via email. Comply with all the instructions given by the agent and complete the process.
- Once you have completed the complaint lodging process, your request will be taken further to the relevant officials.
- Authorities related to that particular service issue will make necessary proceedings about the issue and inform you about the further progress.
