Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain Pregnancy Termination Service, the applicant must either go to the Government hospitals or designated private doctors, or gynaecologists, or non-profit service providers in South Africa. Hospital list link and Hospital list link and Safe Abortion Services List
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- First, the applicant/patient must make a request at the primary healthcare clinic regarding the abortion decision.
- The patient/applicant must sign the “Consent Form” at the clinic/hospital to follow the pregnancy termination service.
- Later, the patient will be confirmed for the termination service, and then will be given the counselling if the women is under 13 weeks pregnant.
- If the women are between 13 weeks and 20 weeks pregnant, then necessary health check-ups will be made, and if it safe, only then the pregnancy will be terminated under specific conditions by the expert health worker.
- There are no charges for the pregnancy termination services in the primary health care centres.
- However, in the private hospitals, there will be a minimum charge for the service.
- The pregnancy termination process duration will be intimated to the patient while confirming the services.

- Women of all ages have the right to terminate the pregnancy irrespective of their ages.
- However, it is advisable for the minors under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a trusted adult (parent/aunt/teacher) for support.
FeesEdit
- There is no fee in the primary healthcare facilities to take pregnancy termination services.
- Ambulance services are also free for the women who have an abortion.
- However, in the private hospitals/clinics, there will be a minimum charge to take the pregnancy test services.

- There is no validity period for the pregnancy termination services.
