Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Changing Vessel Name for Ships in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the South African Maritime Safety Authority.
- The contact details of the South African Maritime Safety Authority can be found in the following link: Link
- Visit the office and obtain an Application for copy of Certificate of SA Registry as required from the relevant department.
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Now, complete the form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
- After paying the fees, attach all the required documents with the completed application and submit it to the relevant official at the office.
- Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps for the Amendment process.

- Any Ship owner, who holds a Registration Certificate, can apply for an amendment when he/she wants to make any changes in the Vessel name of ships.
- The person applying must have a proper documentary proof for the changes that he/she wants to make.

- The application must be made within 14 days from the date on which the modification has come into act.
