Procedure

This service enables residents to check online if they are among the categories that are eligible for the permanent residence in Qatar.
Apply Online

1. Individuals can enquire about their Permanent Residency Eligibility online by visiting the Ministry of Interior’s (MOI) website through the following link.
2. Once you have opened the website’s page click on the MOI Services tab on the dashboard and navigate to the Inquires section then click on it.
3. This will lead you to the next page displaying MOI Services, where you have to click on the “Residency Permits inquiry” Tab to go the next page.
4. Here click on the Permanent Residency Eligibility Inquiry icon to access the online application form.
5. Fill in the required information to make the inquiry. These include:-

   • QID Number of the authorized individual ( 11 digits)
   • Residency Expiry Date
   • enter the verification code from picture or audio

6. Confirm that the information you have provided is correct, then click on the “Submit” button.
7. This will cause the eligibility criteria details to be displayed
8. The inquiry process is immediate and free of charge.
9. If you are eligible for permanent residency, you can submit your application through the Electronic Services Portal of the Ministry of Interior’s website.

• This application allows an individual resident to enquire whether they are eligible to obtain permanent residency in Qatar.

• Here are the details of the rules and regulations one must fulfil to get the permanent residency done in Qatar as per the Law No. 10 of 2018 on Permanent Residency :

According to Article one:

1. Those applying must have spent 20 years in Qatar on a legal ordinary residency permit if they are born out of Qatar.
2. If they were born in Qatar, they must have spent at least 10 years in Qatar.
3. The residency should be continuous and without any breaks and it should be prior to the submission date of the application for the permanent residency.
4. This continuation of residency in Qatar should not be interrupted by staying outside of the country for more than 60 days in a year. In such cases, the excess duration of the stay would be deducted from the balance of the residency within Qatar.
5. If the applicant leaves Qatar after applying for the permanent resident permit for more than six months, the Ministry of Interior has the right to forfeit the candidate’s application as well as the previous residency duration in the country as well.
6. The applicant should make enough income to take care of himself and his family. The minimum income will be specified by the cabinet along with exceptional cases.
7. The applicant must have good conduct in Qatar and reputation to preside it with. They must not have any prior conviction in a dishonourable offence unless they have gone through rehabilitation as per the law of Qatar.
8. The applicant must adequately know the Arabic language.

According to Article two

• AS an exception of article one, the following categories of non-Qataris may be granted a permanent residence permit:

1. Any children of a Qatari woman married to a non-Qatari man
2. Non-Qatari husband of a Qatari women
3. Non-Qatari wife of a Qatari man
4. Any children of a Qatari with naturalization
5. Individuals who have offered special service to the country
6. Individuals with special qualifications needed in Qatar.
