Procedure

Apply In-Person (For Group Booking)

1. To Apply for Train Concession for College Students, the applicant shall visit the nearby railway office.
2. Prepare a list in Format A in excel sheet with all the required information of the students.
3. Now print it out in an A4 size paper.
4. Get it signed by all the students.
5. Get the list signed by the Principal/HOD.
6. A letter by the College authority shall be addressed to the Chief Commercial Superintendent requesting grant for ticket booking.
7. The letter must mention the purpose of the visit, date of outward journey to destination and return to hometown.
8. Now submit it to the zonal office and collect the acknowledgement.
9. After two days, the applicant will be notified to collect the letter of concession from the Superintendent.
10. Submit the letter to the Chief Booking Supervisor at the reservation office.
11. Take the acknowledgement receipt.
12. After 7 days, visit the reservation office and make the payment on the counter to collect the papers of your group booking.

  • Aadhar card
  • Voter photo identity card
  • Passport
  • Driving License

Eligibility

Passengers under the following categories are eligible for concession:

• You should be a student studying in any college
• Bonafide students up to age of 25 years (27 years in case of Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes)

• The concessional ticket’s validity is subject to the date and place of journey.

Need for the Document

• Passengers who are eligible under student category of concession can buy train tickets at lower price compared to the standard rates.

Information which might help

• Student Concession tickets are applicable only in Sleeper Class (SL) and 2nd Sitting (2S).
• Concession shall be admissible only in respect of basic fares. No concession is admissible in respect of other charges, viz. superfast surcharge, reservation fee, etc.
• Passengers are allowed to apply for only one type of concession.
• Student Concession could be availed for the below travel conditions:
• Between Home Town & place of education during the period of vacation.
• To appear for exams conducted by recognized educational institutions.
• Educational Tours in groups of not less than 10 (Ten). Not less than 4 (Four) in case of students from Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, J & K, Manipur, Mizoram & Arunachal Pradesh.
