Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Renew NC2 Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) link

   NOTE: Enter the centre name, select the regional and qualification and then click the “Search” button.

2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the fee amount mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
8. Do not forget to show up on your scheduled date and assigned venue of the assessment indicated in the Admission Slip.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. An acknowledgement receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
13. The applicant will get the certificate from the office.
14. This entire process can be completed within 7 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II Certificate proves that a person is well trained in welding carbon steel plate and pipe components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work order, welding procedure, or oral instructions using shielded metal arc welding equipment.
• The qualification set by TESDA conforms with the American Welding Society (AWS) D 1.1 Structural Welding Code; American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) IX Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code; American Petroleum Institute (API) 1104 Code for Gas and Oil Pipeline Facilities; and International Standards Organization (ISO) 9606-1 Qualification of Welders for Steel.
• Any individual Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II certificate holder must renew their certificate after a certain validation of time to do the job legally.
