EligibilityEdit
To get a fishing license online you will need:
- To be a resident of Canada.
- Depending on the information on file, you may also need to provide your Outdoors Card number and mailing address postal code.
You are not required to purchase a Fishing License if you are:
- A resident of Ontario and Canada under 18 years of age or 65 years of age or older
- A disabled Ontarian.
Those who qualify to fish without purchasing a fishing license must follow the same catch and possession limits as a sport fishing license and be prepared to show documentation supporting their status.

- To fish in Ontario, you need:
- an Outdoors Card and a valid fishing license tag, or
- a temporary fishing license and Outdoors Card Application.
- The license tag is either affixed to the card or carried as a separate document.
- There are two types of license tags available:
- Sport fishing license: For anglers who want full catch and possession fishing privileges.
- Conservation fishing license: A reduced catch and possession limit license that is ideal for anglers who want to live-release the majority of fish caught. Under this license, anglers must immediately release muskellunge, Atlantic salmon and aurora trout.
- Please note that an Outdoors Card is not required for a one-day fishing license.
- Online Completion Time: Average 10 minutes
