Odisha - Apply for New Import Export Code Number (IEC)

- The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a key business identification number which is mandatory for Exports or Imports. The eligible applicant shall apply with the designated authority of their respective directorate general of foreign trade office.
Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a fresh Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) in person, please visit the concerned regional office of the “DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FOREIGN TRADE (DGFT)” for your respective state.
- Link for contact details link1 and User shall use the following link and select the location icon as per their zone for respective contact details link2.
- Once the applicant visits the concerned office, shall consult the designated authority for applying process.
- Please collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Application form can be downloaded from the following link please use the application form on page number 1.
- Please complete the application form. Attach all the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page along with the appropriate payment of fees as per acceptable mode and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised, or you can send the application by post as per the address provided under the “Office Locations & Contacts” section.
- After receiving the application, a token will be given for the application received at the counter.
- The concerned authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The deficient application is returned to the counter along with check-sheet and the applicant shall collect the same on production of the token on the next day from the counter. In case of application is received by post, deficient application shall be returned by post.
- The applicants are requested to self-attest all the corrections/additions in the application, at the time of resubmission.
- The check-sheet of this office given along with the deficient application should be returned while resubmitting the application.
- Once the application is accepted, this application will be processed further.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please follow department’s notification.
- Once the department finds the application details and documents are appropriate, the “IEC” code will be generated after the internal processing and the same will be sent to your register email ID or sent to your address mentioned while applying as per applicable norms.
- Note:
- Each individual page of the application has to be signed by the applicant.
Apply Online
- Please use the following link to apply for “IEC” code online link
- In the given home page, please use the “Apply for IEC” button provided under “Register for your IEC”.
- A “REGISTER” screen will be provided. Please select “Importer/Exporter” option from the drop-down list provided under “Register User As*” and complete the other page prompts as appropriate. Please enter the captcha as appropriate.
- Please click the checkbox for “By registering you are agreeing to our terms & conditions” and hit “Send OTP” button at the bottom to receive “OTP” in the registered mobile number and email ID.
- Please enter the received “OTP’s” at the prompted space under “Enter Email OTP *” and “Enter Mobile OTP *” respectively and click the “Register” button to get a pop-up message “USER HAS BEEN REGISTERED SUCCESSFULLY. PLEASE REFER YOUR REGISTERED MAIL ID FOR USERNAME AND PASSWORD”. Please close the pop-up by selecting the close icon.
- Now applicant will reach the home page. Here, use the “Login” button provided in the top right corner of the page to reach the “LOGIN” screen.
- Please use your login credentials (you can find them from the mailbox too) at the prompted space as appropriate and enter the captcha at the given space. Please click the “Login” button to login.
- Applicant will reach “Change Password” page. Please follow the page prompts as appropriate to change the password and click the “Submit” button.
- Applicant will get a “Are you sure you want to change password?” pop-up message. Please click “OK” button.
- Applicant will get another “Password changed successfully. Please sign in using changed password” pop-up message. Please click “OK” button.
- Now, go back to the home page once again to login.
- Once login, please select “Apply IRC” button from the screen provided to reach “Draft Application | Apply for IEC” page.
- Please select “Start Fresh Application” button at the bottom.
- Applicant will reach online application page. Here, applicant has to complete the page prompts for “General information, Details of Proprietor/Partner/Direct…, Bank Information, Other Details (Preferred sectors of operations) and Declaration” sections as appropriate and click the “Save & Next” button at the bottom for each section to get successive section prompts.
- Finally, on reaching the “Application Summary” section, please click the “Preview IEC Application” button to get a new page with preview of your online application. Please go through the application details and if the details are correct, then come back to the online applying page.
- Please scroll down to find a “Sign” button. Just above this button, applicant shall find the “As per form ANF-2K, You have to pay a sum of Rs. 500 for Application for Importer Exporter Code” message.
- Please click the “Sign” button. A pop-up message “Once signed, You will not be able to edit the application, Are you sure you want to sign the application” will be provided. Please click “OK” button to get “Sign Submission” screen.
- Please select your signing option from “Aadhaar e-Sign” or “Digital Signature Certificate” by using the “Proceed” option provided under each method. As per the applicant’s choice, authentication shall be completed by following the onscreen information and by processing the requirements with the help of external websites.
- Once the authentication is complete, applicant will get “Documents signed successfully.” Pop-up. Please click the “OK” button.
- Applicant will come back to the online application page. Now, please click the “ Proceed to Payment” button to reach the “Payment Details” page.
- Here, please scroll down to the bottom to find “Have you already paid to Miscellaneous Payment System (eMPS) / Legacy Draft Application?” option. Please click the “NO” option and click “Submit” button to get “Payment Mode Online” page.
- Please go through the details and scroll down. Please enter the captcha as appropriate and click “Confirm” button to reach the “Payment Gateway” page.
- Please complete the payment gateway requirements as applicable to make online payment.
- Once the payment is made, applicant will get “E-PAYMENT RECEIPT”. Please use the “Download Receipt” button to save this receipt. Please keep it safe for future reference.
- This application will be processed further.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please follow department’s notification.
- Once the department finds the application details and documents are appropriate, the “IEC” code will be generated and the same will be sent to your register email ID.
To print IEC
- Once the code is sanctioned, applicant shall print the “IEC” code by login.
- Once login, please scroll down and click “IEC” button provided under “QUICK LINKS” for a new page. Here, please use the “Apply” option provided under “Print IEC” to get the certificate downloaded.
- Thus, the “IEC” code is obtained through online.
Required DocumentsEdit

- Copy of “GST” certificate.
- Aadhaar card of the applicant.
- Digital signature (Digital signature is not mandatory if aadhaar details are matching with “PAN” and phone number is linked to aadhaar).
- Self-addressed envelope for office and bank with stamps of Rs. 40/- (Each).
Documents required for applicant being an individual
- Applicant’s Residence proof (ration card / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence).
- Applicant’s Identity proof (ration card / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence).
- ”PAN” card.
- Passport size photograph (3 numbers).
- Electricity bill paid receipt of the office premise, in case of own property.
- If the office premise is a rented one, then provide the rental agreement.
- Cancelled bank cheque leaf of the individual’s current account.
Documents required for applicant being a company
- Certificate of Incorporation or partnership deed in case of partnership firm.
- Company “PAN” card.
- Authorized applicant’s “PAN” card.
- Authorized applicant’s (authorized partner / director) residence proof (ration card / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence).
- Authorized applicant’s passport size photograph (3 numbers).
- Electricity bill paid receipt of the office premise, in case of own property.
- If the office premise is a rented one, then provide the rental agreement.
- Cancelled bank cheque leaf of the company’s current account.
- Certificate from the banker of the applicant firm in the specified format: link please refer page number 8.
- Note:
- Apart from the above documents, applicant may be prompted to provide additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

- Individual or a firm engaged in import or export business are eligible to apply for this procedure.
- The nature of the firm obtaining an “IEC” may be any of the follows - Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Limited Company, Trust, HUF and Society.
FeesEdit
- You have to pay a sum of Rs. 500 for application of Importer Exporter Code.
- Demand draft of Rs.250 evidencing payment of application fee in favour of the concerned Regional Office of DGFT. Money can also be paid through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). Please follow the guidelines of the concerned authority while applying

- A business entity with “IEC” will be a structured one and will have goodwill.
- ”IEC” is required to do a foreign trade.
- An importer, during customs clearance, requires “IEC” code.
- An exporter requires “IEC” code to export their products.
- An importer or exporter requires this code for bank transaction while dealing with import and export transactions.
