Procedure

• Apply for a duplicate ration card, when…
  • Original Ration Card is Totally Damaged
  • Original Ration Card is stolen
  • Original Ration Card is Lost or Misplaced

Apply In-Person

1. In order to obtain a duplicate ration card, please approach the MI/BDO in case of Block level, ACSO in case of municipality level and ADM in case of municipal corporation as applicable.
2. Link for contact : BDO link AND Link please select the district name to reach district portal. In the given page, select menu option “ABOUT DISTRICT , Who’s Who” OR “DIRECTORY ,PUBLIC UTILITIES ,Municipalities” for respective contact details. AND link please click on the number hyperlink under “No. Of FPS Dealer” against the respective district name for list of shops in the district. Please select the icon at the end of the table under “take print” heading to get the contact details for the said shop.
3. Please go to the respective office.
4. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used.
5. Fill up the application form and take an attestation from the FPS dealer confirming the enlistment of the name in that FPS and the ration card number.
6. submit the form to the appropriate authority along with the picture of the head of the family.
7. A verification would be done by the MI or the appropriate authority and if report is found satisfactory a duplicate ration card would be provided to the beneficiary with the same card number

• For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID. Hence one need to apply for duplicate copy and obtain the same.
