Northern Ireland - Update Information on Your Driver License

From Wikiprocedure
Jump to: navigation, search

Procedure[edit]

You hold a valid Northern Ireland driver’s license. You must tell the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) immediately of any your updated information as name, address or your health.

It is a legal requirement to tell the DVA about your updated information. You could be fined £1000 if you fail to do so. To update information on your driver’s license, please follow the below guide:

Change of address
You must let the DVA know, if your address changes as it will mean that your records are up to date and therefore future driving license reminders will be sent to the right address.

You can only change your address, if you are still resident in Northern Ireland. To do it, you can apply by Mail or Online. Please follow the guiding steps:

By Mail
  • Prepare the required documents:
    • Complete the “changes” section on your paper counterpart of your driver’s license, sign and date it
    • Your photo card of your driver’s license
  • Mail it all to the DVA driver licensing

If the license has expired or is within two months of expiring you cannot apply to change your address. You must apply to renew the license.
Follow its prompt to apply to change your address on the license. Please allow at least four weeks for your driving license to arrive before contacting the DVA. If your driving license has not arrived six weeks after you made your application, contact the DVA driver Licensing.

Change of your medical condition

If you have had or currently suffer from a medical condition or disability that may affect your driving you must tell the DVA. You also need to provide details if you develop a new condition or disability or if an existing condition worsens.

All driving license application forms contain a series of health questions for you to complete when applying for a new or replacement license. If you have a driver’s license and need to tell DVA of a new or worsening medical condition or disability, you must tell them right away and not wait until your license is due for renewal. You can contact the DVA by Mail, by telephone or email:
