Nigeria - Obtain Permit to Import Agricultural Produces

- To apply for a permit to import agricultural produces, you should make your application to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS). Visit the NAQS website to make your application online: - NAQS website.
- On the website, enter your user name and password to log in if you have an account or click on the “Sign Up here” hyperlink to create your account.
- On the registration page, complete the online registration form, enter the captcha words, and then click on the “Register” button to submit your registration details.
- You will receive a notification informing you that your account was successfully created and you should log in to the email you provided during registration and confirm your membership.
- Go to your email account and open the activation email from the NAQS and then click on the link provided to activate your membership.
- Then log in to your NAQS account and select apply for import certificate option to proceed to the first stage of the permit application.
- View your registration details and select your preferred service provider and then click on the “Continue” button to go to the second stage of the application.
- Complete the application form on page 2 by providing all the required details correctly and then click on the “Apply” button
- You will receive a notification informing you that you have successfully submitted your application and a confirmation email has also been sent to you via the email address provided during your account registration.
- Contact your service provider and issue the service provider with all the required documents for the import permit/certificate.
- Your service provider will verify all the provided documents and prepare all the necessary documentation and send them to the NAQS for assessment and confirmation.
- The NAQS will assess your application to determine if it meets all the required standards and approve the application.
- You will then receive an email informing you that your import permit is ready for collection.

- Generally, the importer should start with registering his/her company with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.
- The company must have an account in any Authorized Dealer Bank of Nigeria which will be required for the processing of E-form M and Pre-Arrival Assessment Report.
- The importer should be aware that an import permit for the products to be imported is necessary for the kind of products
- The importer should make sure that the documents of importation are required to contain the name of the product, country of origin, specifications, date of manufacture, batch number, and standard to which the goods have been produced.
