Procedure[edit]
Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certification in person, the applicant should visit the state office of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
- The address and contact details of the state offices can be found in the following contact link
- Visit the office and obtain the relevant Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) from the relevant department.
- Also, obtain an application form for Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certification.
- Make sure that you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Complete the application form as required with appropriate details and information. Attest the application form with your signature.
- Attach the documents with the completed application form.
- Submit the application form and attached documents to the relevant authority at the office.Pay the applicable fees as directed by the officials.
- After submission, SON technical officers conduct an inspection of the production processes and conduct testing of samples of the product to confirm compliance through conformity assessment processes.
- Report of inspections and test results are compiled by State Offices and forwarded to Product Certification Directorate for evaluation and recommendation for SON Management’s approval for certification.
- If the product meets the requirement of the relevant Nigerian Industrial Standard, MANCAP certificate and MANCAP logo which bears a unique number for that product is issued for the product upon payment of applicable administrative charges
- Upon approval of the Director, the applicant is informed regarding the approval through phone or email and asked to collect the Certificate through any applicable means.

- To apply for Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certification online application link
- Visit the link and complete the registration process to create an account in the MANCAP portal, by following the on-screen instructions.
- After signing up, successful account creation message will appear and check your email for Activation mail. Open the mail and click the activation button to activate your account.
- Then, log in into the website with the help of the user credentials. After logging in, locate the appropriate the option for MANCAP application.
- Online Application form will be opened. Complete the relevant application form and also provide the documents for the process.
- Submit the application form by clicking the applicable button.

Eligibility[edit]
Any Manufacturer in Nigeria, who intends to export its manufactured products, can apply for a MANCAP Certificate, to prove the products’ consistency compliance.

A MANCAP certificate is valid for three years.

- The MANCAP logo is to be fixed on the smallest unit pack of the product after which the product can be introduced into the market for sale.
- The product is monitored through periodic factory inspections and testing to ensure consistent compliance to the Nigerian Industrial Standard by SON officials.
