For Full-time students
- To apply for a student loan online, the applicant will need to log in to their StudentAidNL account, use the following Link
- The applicant can log in using their BC service card, or by creating an account.
- If the applicant does not have an account follow these steps to create one:
- On the log in page, click on the “Register” option.
- The applicant will be directed to another page where they will have to enter information such as their email, username, password and other personal information such as their name, DOB, sex address and SIN.
- The applicant may also need to upload copies of documents.
- The applicant will receive a verification link in their email ID, click on this link to verify the account.
- Once the account has been verified, the applicant can go back to the login page and log in.
- Once logged in to the account, the applicant will need to click on the “Apply for a loan” option.
- The applicant will be directed to the student loan welcome page.
- Click on the application for the student loan option depending on the year the applicant is starting their year of study.
- Read through the terms and conditions and click on “Apply”.
- The applicant will see a digital application fill this with all relevant details such as personal information, studies information and financial information.
- Once all the details have been entered click on the “Proceed to submit” option and submit the application.
- Enter the loan amount required and click on submit.
- The applicant will be directed to a declaration page, read through this carefully.
- Click on submit an application, and return to the welcome page.
- At the bottom of the welcome page, the applicant can track the status of their application.
- The applicant shall receive information about whether the loan has been granted within 45 days from the submission of the application.
- The applicant shall receive the money once the applicant’s school confirms that the applicant is enrolled in a course.

If the applicant faxes or emails their document they do not need to mail original copies of their documents.

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant must be a Canadian citizen or have permanent residency.
- The applicant must have a valid SIN.
- The applicant must be a resident of British Columbia.
- The applicant must show financial need.
- The applicant must show academic progress and achieve satisfactory scholastic standing in each period of post-secondary study.
- The applicant must not be in jail or have a warrant out for their arrest.
- Any loan the applicant has must show good standing.

FeesEdit
The applicant does not need to pay fees to apply for a student loan.
ValidityEdit
- The student loan is valid for a period of 12 months after which the applicant will need to apply for a loan again if they continue studying.

- It is recommended that the applicant apply as early as possible for a student loan.
- The applicant will need to apply for a student loan yearly depending on how long the duration of their course is.
- For part-time students, they must apply at least 4-6 weeks before their course starts.

- SIN
- Line 15000 of previous years income tax return
- Any other financial resources or income information (RESP, investments, scholarships, etc.)
- Complete mailing address and permanent address (if different from mailing address)
- Current and/or cell phone numbers
- Program Information
- Name of Program
- Institution Name (and campus, if applicable)
- Start and End Dates for the current academic year
- Costs (tuition and required fees)
- If the applicant is a Dependent Student, you will also require your:
- Parent(s) or guardian(s) information (i.e., SIN, date of birth, postal code, line 15000 of previous year’s Income Tax Return)
- Sibling(s) name and age (and SIN for any sibling attending post-secondary)
- If the applicant is a Married/Common-Law Student, you will also require your:
- Spouse’s information (i.e., SIN, line 15000 of previous year’s Income Tax Return, date of birth and income)
