Procedure

In Person

1. Go to your County Board of Elections.
2. Complete a Voter Registration English Form or Voter Registration Spanish Form.
3. Sign the form and submit it.

By Mail

1. Download a Voter Registration English Form or Voter Registration Spanish Form.
2. Print the form.
3. Complete the form and sign it.
4. Mail it to your County Board of Elections.

Apply Online

1. Go to the MyDMV to make the necessary registration.
2. Go to the dashboard Electronic Voter Registration Application.
3. Fill up the application form online.
4. Make an electronic signature.

Eligibility

To be able to register to vote, you must:

• be a United States citizen.
• be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote).
• live at your present address at least 30 days before an election.
• not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction and.
• not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court.
• not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

Instructions

• You can register in person at your county board of elections or at any New York State Agency-Based voter registration center.
• You can enter your name directly into the Board of Elections mailing list database to have a New York State Voter Registration Form mailed to you.
• You can call 1-800-FOR-VOTE hotline to request a voter application.
