ProcedureEdit

  • This Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme is provided by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare so the applicant has to apply for this scheme only online by themselves or via a registered CSC centre.


Apply Online

  1. To Obtain Farmer Insurance Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the applicant can make the application online via the PMFBY website or tap the following link
  2. The applicant has to “Apply for Crop Insurance by yourself” click “Login for Farmer” enter the registered mobile number and enter the captcha for verification and click “Get OTP” and the OTP to log in.
  3. If the applicant doesn’t have an account, click “Guest Farmer” to complete the registration form, and click “Create User” to register an account.
  4. After login, the applicant has to enter their details in the application form.
  5. Next, the applicant has to enter the details of the farm and crops. (The applicant has to enter the accurate details. Providing fake details is highly punishable)
  6. Upload relevant documents as applicable. All the necessary documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. Enter the “captcha” at the prompted space and click the “Submit” button to apply online.
  8. There is no fee for online application.
  9. A system-generated reference id will be displayed as acknowledgment.
  10. Save this id safe for future reference to check the status.
  11. This application will be processed by the agriculture department.
  12. The internal process will be initiated to verify the details.
  13. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  14. The processing time of the procedure takes up to 30-45 days.


Apply Through Registered CSC Centre

  1. To Obtain Farmer Insurance Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the applicant has to approach the nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) Link
    NOTE: The applicant has to select their state, district, and sub-district from the drop-down menu and enter a captcha and click search to find a nearby centre in their respective district.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant to provide their details to the officer in charge.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to attach the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (If required).
  5. Submit the completed application and document to the centre staff.
  6. The applicant has to pay the service fee as per the authority’s request.
  7. The application submitted will be processed and a receipt with the application number will be issued.
  8. The applicant is informed through SMS at various stages i.e., Advance intimation about the date of the visit of the official to his place of residence for verification of his application, Approval/Rejection of his application.
  9. The processing time of the procedure takes up to 30-45 days.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • PMFBY will provide a comprehensive insurance cover against failure of the crop thus helping in stabilising the income of the farmers and encouraging them to the adoption of innovative practices.
  • The Scheme can cover all Food & Oilseeds crops and Annual Commercial/Horticultural Crops for which past yield data is available and for which a requisite number of Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) will be conducted being a part of the General Crop Estimation Survey (GCES).
