Apply In Person
- To apply for the Learner driver’s license in Mauritius, the applicant should make the application to the Traffic Branch of the Mauritius Police Force. Please view the Mauritius Police Force contact details through this Contact Details.
- Visit the Mauritius Police Force office and obtain the learner driver’s license form at the reception.
- Then complete the application form as required and submit the completed application form to the officer at the reception.
- The officer will verify the application to confirm if it is completed as required.
- Then the application will be dispatched to the Traffic Branch for processing.
- The Traffic Branch will assess the application to determine if the applicant is eligible for the Learner driver’s license.
- Upon the completion of the assessment process and if the applicant is eligible for the license, the applicant will be informed in writing to visit the licensing office for the processing of the applicant’s application.
- Visit the Traffic Branch office along with the letter from the Traffic Branch and the original documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and submit the documents to the officer at the licensing office service desk.
- The concerned officers will verify the documents and direct you to pay the learner’s license fee at the cash desk.
- Upon payment of the requisite fee, the license will be processed and issued to the applicant within the same day.
Apply online
- To apply for the Learner driver’s license online, the applicant should make the application to the Mauritius Police Force through the Government Online Centre (GOC) via this Government Online Centre.
- On the website, scroll down to find “Application for a Learner's License” on the first page and then click on the “Apply” button next to the “Application for a Learner's License” sentence to be directed to the next page.
- On the Sign-in page, as the applicant, you will be required to enter your user name and password and then check the reCAPTCHA check box and log in to access the online form.
- If the applicant is not a registered user, click on the “Register (new user)” hyperlink to go to the registration page.
- Read the data protection information and click on the “Accept” button to proceed to the next page.
- Confirm your citizenship by either click on the “Yes” or “No” button to go to the next page.
- For citizens, you will be required to enter your name and the NIC number and for non-citizens, you will be required to enter your name and passport number then click on the “Next” button to proceed to the next page.
- On this page, enter your user name and password and then click on the “Next” button to go to the next page.
- Enter your email address and then click on the “ Send OTP” button.
- You will receive an OTP code through your email address.
- Obtain the OTP code and enter it in the “Insert OTP” box and click on the “Next” button to continue.
- Once you have completed creating your account, go to the E-service portal and find “Application for a Learner's License” on page 1 and click on the hyperlink to go to the sign-in page.
- Enter your credentials and login and you will be directed to the online application form for the Learner's License.
- Complete the online application form accordingly and attach all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and then click on the “Submit” button to send your application.
- Upon sending the application, you will receive a notification email from the Traffic Branch of the Mauritius Police Force informing you of the application details and the date you have scheduled for your physical appointment at the Traffic Branch.
- Print the email receipt and on the appointment date, visit the Traffic Branch along with email print our and original documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and submit the documents to the officer at the licensing office service desk.
- The official will verify the documents and direct you to pay the learner’s license fee at the cash desk.
- Upon payment of the requisite fee, the license will be processed and issued to the applicant within the same day.
- Note:
- In cases where the applicant is under 18 years, he/she should be accompanied by the responsible party to the Traffic Branch office for the physical appointment.
