- To Renew a Driver License in Maharashtra the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : Regional Office Locations, Transport Commissioners Office Locations
- Application Forms No 9 is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : English Application Forms, Marathi Application Forms
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for renewing the driver license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- If the authority is satisfied with the documents provided and the application that has been presented the driver license will be renewed.
Apply Online - Maharashtra Renew Driver License Obtained from Another State online with Images
- To renew driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.
Apply Online (Through Aaplesarkar Portal)
- To Renew a Driver Licence obtained from another state, the applicant can make the application via Aaplesarkar Portal by using the following link link
- The applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
- Then the applicant has to click the “Transport” menu and select “Renew a Driver Licence obtained from another state” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
- Next Select Registration – Form, fill out the online form, and submit.
- The applicant will get the application Id and the application screen will be closed.
- Open the application submitting application id and see the status of the application and the instruction given on the right side of the screen.
- If Status is uploaded document, then click upload the documents on right side instructions.
- By Clicking on the documents which want to upload browse will appear and upload all the required documents with the above same procedure.
- Then Click upload document at the bottom and see the status again which will show for payment.
- Click on pay the fees on the right-side button and choose the option of payment and make payment.
- Check the status it will show "under scrutiny" which means your application is on the desk for scrutiny check the status regularly, either it is "approved” or "rejected”
- If rejected check your mail and follow the instruction given in the mail and read the instructions.
- If you see the status "completed” and then book the slot and visit the office on the respective date.
Apply Through Mobile App
- To Renew a Driver Licence obtained from another state, the applicant can make the application via RTS Maharashtra app link
- After installing the app, click on “Getting Started” and “select language” to start the application.
- Then the applicant has to click the “Transport” menu and select “Renew a Driver Licence obtained from another state” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
- Next the applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant can check the status of the application by clicking on “Track” menu by entering the department and application ID.

EligibilityEdit
- The driving License is renewed with effect from the date of its expiry when the application is made before its expiry or within thirty days grace period.
- The driving License is renewed with effect from the date of renewal when the application is made after the grace period.
- The driving License cannot be renewed after the period of five years after expiry of the License.
Note : If the License is from other state it is desirable that the applicant should bring No Objection Certificate (N.O.C.) / confirmation of driving License from Original Licensing Authority.

ValidityEdit
Licence to drive a Non-Transport Vehicle is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or until the holder attains the age of 50 years, whichever is earlier. After that, the Licence is renewed every 5 years. Transport Vehicle Licence is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.

InstructionsEdit
- An Expired Driving licence is valid for 30 days and can be renewed during this grace period without a penalty.
- A driving licence expired by more than 30 days can be renewed on payment of a penalty, provided the application is made within a period of five years from the date of expiry. The penalty is charged at Rs. 10/- per year or a part thereof.
- The Driving Licence can be renewed through any RTO in the country, irrespective of the place of its issue. If a driver changes his residence, the new address should be incorporated in the license.

A Driving Licence is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle. Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving Licence issued to him, authorising him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
