  • Download Form 25 and fill all the required information asked in the application form.
  • Submit the filled in application form and a original RC book along with required documents to the Registering Authority (Regional Transport Officer (or) Motor Vehicle Inspector, Grade-I / II.) in whosejurisdiction the vehicle is.



Apply Online - Maharashtra Renew Certificate Of Vehicle Registration Online with Images

  1. To Renew Certificate Of Vehicle Registration, the applicant has to use the following link link
  2. Enter the registration number select the state and RTO office and then click the “PROCEED” button.
  3. Now the applicant needs to select the online service.
  4. Enter the related service details and click the “PROCEED” button.
  5. Enter the mobile number and click “Generate OTP”.
  6. The applicant has to enter the OTP from the given mobile number and click the “Login” button.
  7. Now, the applicant has to select the “Renew Certificate” from the following option.
  8. The applicant has to complete the application form by entering all the details in each section.
  9. Also, upload all necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  10. Once completed with all the details click the “Submit Details” button.
  11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  13. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  14. The applicant has to visit the office to collect the permit.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 15- 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


Apply In Person:

  1. To Renew Certificate Of Vehicle Registration, the applicant has to approach the Transport Commissioner Office – link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  6. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  7. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  8. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  10. Once the process gets completed, the applicant has to visit the office to get the renewal certificate.
  11. This entire process can be completed within 3 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

FeesEdit

Fees for Renewal of Registration
  • Rs 300/- for Two wheelers
  • Rs 200/- for imported Two wheelers
  • Rs 400/- for Light Motor Vehicles (Non-transport )
  • Rs 600 for Imported LMV's
  • Rs 25/- per calendar month as compounding fee for belated renewal of registration subject to a maximum of Rs 100/-

Green Tax: Rs 2000 in respect of two wheelers & Rs 3500 in respect of LMV's

ValidityEdit

The Non-Transport Category vehicle is renewed for 5 years from the date of approval if application is approved after expiry date of registration certificate or if it submitted before the date of expiry then 5 years from the date of expiry.
For a Transport Category Vehicle the Renewal of Certificate of Fitness is itself called the renewal of registration certificate and its validity is 1 year from the date of approval or if it submitted in time i.e., before 15 days of expiry then validity is 1 year from the date of expiry.

  • Is your vehicle completing its 15 years of registered life, then you need to renew vehicle registration certificate before it expires.
  • You need to take your vehicle to the RTO office where the registration was done earlier.
  • If your vehicle is road-worthy then your vehicle registration will be renewed for another 5 years.
  • To renew your vehicle, an application for the Certificate of Registration shall be made in Form 25, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry, by paying the appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to the Registering Authority in whose Jurisdiction the vehicle is.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Vehicle Registration involves the recording of a motor vehicle in the official records after due verification. Vehicle Registration is mandatory under the law and is essential to prove the ownership of a vehicle. It is also required renew the registration before its get expired. The owner of the Non transport vehicle can apply for renewal of Registration Certificate after Completion of 15 years from the date of original registration. The registration should be renewed prior to 60 days of the expiry of the registration.

All letters of the Registration mark/ Number shall be in English and the figures shall be in Arabic numerals and the letters & figures shall be painted in reflecting colours and be shown :

  1. In case of transport vehicles other than those under the rent a cab scheme 1989 in black on white ground.
  2. In the case of motor vehicles temporarily registered in red on yellow ground.
  3. In the case of motor vehicles in the possession of dealer in white on a red ground.
  4. In other cases, in white on a black ground.
  5. In the case of transport vehicle under rent a cab scheme,1989, in yellow on a black ground.

The size of registration mark should not be less than :

  • For Motor Cycle or Scooters:
    • Height - 35
    • Thickness - 7
    • Space In MM - 5
  • For All Motor Vehicles:
    • Height - 65
    • Thickness - 10
