Apply In-Person:
- The relatives, acquaintances of the missing person shall approach the police station to get information about unidentified or found Person.
- Contact link please select the respective district from the drop-down list provided under “District/Police Commissionerates” for the respective district portal. Here, use the “Contact Us” menu for contact details.
- Please visit the respective office.
- Meet the respective authorities at the office and consult with them about the process to get information about unidentified or found Person.
- As advised, please write a request/plea on a plain A4 sheet or collect the form (if any) from the concerned authority.
- Once the request/plea is ready, please attach the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority.
- This request will be processed further. As the required details will be digitally available, the authorities will try to find the matching details from the database.
- The search will also be carried out on those unidentified or found person admitted in the hospital as per the police record.
- This request/plea can be processed immediately. Based on the matching data, the information recorded can be provided.
- In case the matching data is not availed, the application will be recorded in the office to cross-check for any matching data.
- The whole process can be completed on the same day or as per the timeline provided by the authorities.

- NOTE:
- The information including found date, age or age range, height, clothing, appearance, physical features, sex, state etc. will be recorded by the police department about the unidentified or found person.

- A written request (if the request form is available in the police station, then make use of it)
- Applicant’s proof of address (Ration card / Bank pass book / Telephone bill / Aadhaar card)
- Applicant’s proof of identity (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence)
- FIR copy of the complaint registered about the missing person if available
- Photo of the missing person (the latest one before missing)
- Aadhaar card
- NOTE:
- Apart from the above documents, the authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

- An unidentified or found person should only be released when identification is certain.
- Don’t forget to take all the originals of the document along with a copy to the police station.
- Incomplete request/plea will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the request/plea form.
- Please find the missing persons squad/desk in police stations for clarification.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The information of unidentified or abandoned or injured person (being hospitalized) will be immediately intimated by the public or by the hospital through phone or to the police staff who come across or directly visiting the nearby police station.
- The respective police station will record the details about the person being found and this information will be recorded in the online database for retrieval.
- This information will be helpful for the relatives, acqauintances of the missing person (victim) to clarify if there is any matching person identity is found.
Information which might helpEdit
- While registering a complaint about a missing person, the complainant should clearly mention the date and the probable time the victim was missing. Also, the details of the missing person including name, parentage, age, height, complexion, sex, clothes worn and any special mark of identification etc.
- Apart from making a complaint, the complainant shall also publish an advertisement in a local newspaper about such person mentioning his particulars and identification marks, along with his/her photograph.
- Nowadays, social media platforms and radio/FM can also be useful to find such person.
