Maharashtra - Get Information about Recovered Vehicles

Apply In-Person:
- Please approach the nearest police station to get information about recovered vehicles.
- Contact link please select your district from the dropdown list provided under “District/Police Commissionerates” for respective district portal. Here, use the “Contact Us” menu for contact details.
- Please visit the respective office to know the concerned authority or the office. Meet the respective authority at the office and collect the required form (if any) from the concerned authority or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Once the request form/letter is ready, please attach the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it along with an advised fee (if any) to the designated receiving authority.
- The applicant is required to provide the details of the vehicle such as registration number, chassis number and engine number.
- After receiving the request form/letter, authorities will check the details and documents. If all are in place, the request will be accepted.
- Authorities will make entries about this request in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
- The request will be processed further. The ”SMS” triggered update on request status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile or applicant gets a call from the police station about the request status.
- The concerned authorities will process the request as per department norms. Once the required information on the investigation about the recovered vehicle is ascertained, a report will be generated.
- This report will be subjected to the higher authority's endorsement, or it will be processed internally.
- Once the processing is over, the status will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS or through phone call.
- The applicant shall visit the concerned police station to get the report.
- The whole process can be completed in 7 days.
Apply Through VahanSamanvay Portal
- Please use the following link to reach the ”VahanSamanvay” Portal Link
- The user will reach the “VahanSamanvay” page. In the given page, please click on the checkbox or option “Verify recovery status of stolen vehicle (Select this option only when your vehicle is stolen)”, and please complete the form prompts as appropriate.
- The applicant should complete the online form prompts for Applicant name, City, Pin Code, Mobile number, E-mail ID, Vehicle type, Vehicle make, Registration number, Chasis number, Engine number, Year of manufacture, Colour of the vehicle and then click on the “Search” button.
- The details will be displayed. You can download if required.
- A “Motor Vehicle Verification” pdf file will get downloaded. Please click on the downloaded pdf file to check the details.
- If the vehicle is not recovered, a message “As per the information available with NCRB till date (based on data received from States/UTs police) the above-mentioned vehicle is not recovered yet.” will be provided at the bottom of the page.
- This report will provide information about the vehicle which was stolen.

- Applicant’s proof of identity (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence)

- The purpose is to provide a facility for the public to check up whether the stolen vehicle is recovered or not.
- In order to avoid the recovered vehicles lying unused, the respective owner of the stolen vehicle should follow this procedure.

- Whenever the vehicle is lost or stolen, the “FIR” needs to be lodged at the nearest police station at the earliest.
