Maharashtra - Correct or Update a Birth Certificate

Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicant shall approach the Block/Zilla parishad office from where the certificate was obtained.
  2. To locate the office, use the following Link.
  3. In the given page, please click on the menu “About Department > Subordinate office > Zilla Parishad” for a new page with list of office details.
  4. The applicant shall contact the office using the contact information and identify the appropriate office to apply.
  5. Please visit the respective office. Go to the appropriate counter.
  6. Obtain the form for 'Birth Certificate Update/correction’ from the respective counter or write on a plain A4 white sheet as advised.
  7. Please complete the application form mentioning the required acceptable change and attach the required documents and submit it to the receiving authority.
  8. The counter staff will check the submitted set for further processing. The staff will record the details trough online using a computer or as per the usual process.
  9. Please make the necessary payment as applicable.
  10. The operator will complete the submission process and provide an acknowledgment for the same. The applicant will get a system generated SMS in their mobile number provided as registered one.
  11. Please keep it safe for future reference. The printed acknowledgement will have the details of the process and delivery timeline. It is advisable to get information on processing timeline from the authorities.
  12. This application will be processed further by the respective department.
  13. If there is no response on your submitted application, then the applicant shall visit the respective counter where they applied to find out the status.
  14. Once the process is over, applicant gets notification in their phone through SMS.
  15. Use the acknowledgment slip to obtain certificate from the office as per notified period or can be downloaded online.



Apply through Seva Kendra (ASSK)  / Taluka Setu Centre:

  1. The applicant shall visit any of the nearest service center.
  2. Please use the following “ASSK”: Link to find the center.
  3. To find the ‘Taluka Setu Centre’, Use the following link 
  4. In the given page, please select the respective state as applicable to reach the respective state districts page. Please check and scroll down for the “Districts” section. Please click on the “View All” option to reach the districts page. Here click on the applicable district to reach the official district page.
  5. Here click on the menu and sub option as “DIRECTORY / PUBLIC UTILITIES / Municipalities” to reach a page with required contact information for locating the respective authority’s office. Also Please look for other menu and sub options as “ABOUT DISTRICT / Who’s Who”.
  6. Once you locate the office contact details, call them to find the concerned office to apply.
  7. Visit the center and provide your birth certificate to the operator and mark the required changes required.
  8. The operator will process the request electronically and scan the documents. Also take signature and also photograph if required.
  9. Once the processing is complete, please remit the required fees as applicable.
  10. The operator will provide an acknowledgement for the submission of application and SMS in the registered mobile number. Please keep it safe for future reference.
