Apply By Mail To Change Name of your Company or Firm, the applicant has to mail their application to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs link
Step – 1 Board Resolution

  1. A board meeting is held on to pass a resolution for change of name of the company.
  2. A company director and secretary must make an application to the Ministry of Corporate Affair for ascertaining availability of the proposed name.


Step – 2 Check the name availability

  1. The authorized person will send the request letter to the MCA.
  2. In return, the ROC – Registration of Companies will send the return confirmation letter for name availability.


NOTE: The proposed name shouldn’t be similar to another existing company name, and it shouldn’t include the word “state.”


Step – 3 Passing Special Resolution

  1. once the name is finalised, The Company must conduct an extraordinary general meeting and pass a special resolution for change of company name, and consequential changes to the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.


step – 4 Applying for registration

  1. The applicant has to download the e-form from the following link
  2. Enter all the necessary details in the application form.
  3. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  5. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  6. Mail all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The office address is given in “Office Locations & Contacts” Section of this page.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.


step – 5 Issuance of New Certificate of Incorporation

  1. If the Registrar of Companies is satisfied with the documents, it will issue a new certificate of incorporation.
  2. The company change of name certificate will not be issued until the ROC department will complete the checking process.
  3. The license will be hand delivered, sent through post to the address mentioned while applying, or issued as per applicable norms.
  4. This entire process can be completed in 30 - 45 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


step – 6 Incorporating company name in MoA and AoA

  1. Once the new certificate of incorporation is received from ROC, the company name must be incorporated in all the copies of MOA – Memorandum of Association and AOA – Articles of Association.
