Procedure
Apply In-Person:
- In order to enrol under the “Aam Admi Beema Yojana (AABY)” scheme, the applicant has to approach their concerned Collector / Tahsildar / Talathi Office where the applicant resides as appropriate.

In the given page, please select menu option “DIRECTORY>PUBLIC CONVENIENCE>Municipality” OR “DIRECTORY>PUBLIC UTILITIES > Municipalities” OR “ABOUT THE DISTRICT” > “Who’s (Whose) who” to get contact details AND Panchayat contact link1 in the given page please select the hyperlink against the respective state as per requirement for the contact details.
- Please visit the respective office as appropriate and consult with the concerned authority at the office to find the concerned nodal office to apply for the scheme. The applicant shall also apply with the nearest “LIC” office.
- Go to the respective office. Consult with the designated authority about the applying procedure for this scheme. Please collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.

- Complete the application form with the mandatory details. The applicant should mention the nominee details with care (in case of nominee application form is available, then fill it accordingly). Attach the document as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised.
- After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. The applicant shall follow the guidelines of the authorities to complete the enrolment process.
- The authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.#Acknowledgement receipt will be given against every form received. So, collect it and please keep it safe for future reference.
- Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the scheme.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
- This application will be processed further. The concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents. If required, the authorities will visit the applicant’s place as per the address provided on the application form to make field verification.
- After verification, these applications will be sent to the respective sanctioning department with the consent of the verification authorities.
- Concerned sanctioning department will approve the application. The sanctioned application will be forwarded to the appropriate authority for the grant of premium. Once the above said steps are completed, the applicant will be sanctioned for the scheme with a unique policy number and membership number.
- The status, viz. Approval, will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS”.
- The policy will be hand-delivered or delivered through post or delivered as per department norms.
- The entire process can be completed within 15 days of receipt of application or as per the department’s timeline.
- For any updates and clarification, the applicant shall revisit the office where they applied.
- The premium charge is Rs. 200/- per annum per member is applicable for this scheme. Out of Rs. 200/-, 50% is subsidized by the State and Central Government.

Eligibility
- The applicant should be a citizen of India.
- The applicant should be aged between 18 years and 59 years.
- The member should normally be the head of the family. Or
- One earning member of the below poverty line family (BPL). Or
- The marginally above the poverty line under identified vocational group/rural landless household.
Fees
- The premium charge is Rs. 200/- per annum per member is applicable for this scheme. Out of Rs. 200/-, 50% is subsidized by the State and Central Government.
Validity
- The scheme is valid for the premium paid period (one year or as per the timeline provided by the institution).
- The beneficiary shall claim during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force.
- As the premium is paid annually, the beneficiary should pay or renew the policy in time to ensure that they are covered.
- In case of natural death of a member during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force, the sum assured will be Rs. 30,000/-. The assured amount will be paid to the nominee.
- In case of death of a member due to an accident during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force, Rs. 75, 000/- will be paid to the nominee.
- In case of Permanent total disability of a member due to an accident during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force, Rs. 75, 000/- will be paid.
- In case of a member loss 2 eyes and 2 limbs due to an accident during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force, Rs. 75, 000/- will be paid.
- In case of a member Loss of 1 eyes and 1 limb due to an accident during the period of coverage and while the policy is in force, Rs. 37, 500/- will be paid.
- The scheme also provides scholarship of Rs. 100/- per month to the children studying in 9th to 12th standards. The maximum 2 children are given scholarship.

Instructions
- The Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana (AABY) is an insurance (Social Security) scheme from the Government of India, administered through Life Insurance Corporation of India.
- Under this scheme, the death or disability claims will be settled by the P&GS Unit of LIC.
- The claims can be made through NEFT to the respective beneficiaries. If the NEFT facility is not available, then the payment will be directly credited in to the account of beneficiaries.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.

Need for the Document
- The Department of Financial Services introduced “Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana” – a social security scheme for rural landless household.
- The “Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana” scheme is aimed at providing financial aid to the poor to face unfortunate situation.
- The beneficiary of this scheme will be covered under life insurance benefits as well as coverage of partial and permanent disability to the head of the family or an earning member of the family of rural landless households in the states. In addition to these benefits, the scheme also provides educational assistance to their children studying from 9th standard to 12th standard.

- Under the scheme, partial disability like loss of eyes, limbs are covered.
- Those who are availing the Aam Admi Bima Yojana Scholarship, the monetary benefit will be processed on 1st July and 1st January every year via NEFT to the beneficiary (student’s) account.
