Lakshadweep - Obtain a Domicile or Residence Certificate

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for domicile or residence certificate in Lakshadweep, applicant has to approach the Deputy collector in Agatti and minicoy and SDO’s in remaining islands.
- Application should be written in a plain paper affixing a court fee stamp of Re. 1/-
- Make sure that you have all the proper documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section below.
- Submit the form to the Collector office along with the required documents. More details about the Collector office location is provided in the following link U. T adminstration
- Refer the Collector Office location mentioned in the “Office location & contacts” section below.
- After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding your proof which you have submitted along with the form.
- Now the authorities will issue the residence certificate to the applicant.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Proof of residences such as ration card or driving license
- Age proof such as birth certificate, school certificate (10th admit card),etc.
- Two passport size photographs
- Proof of identity such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.
- Self-declaration form.
- Duly filled the application form.
- Photocopies of all documents duly attested by a government official.
- An affidavit from tehsil or court.

- The applicant’s parents or guardian should be a permanent resident of Lakshadweep living for more years.
- Women whose native is not Lakshadweep, but are married to men who are a permanent resident in Lakshadweep.

Domicile Certificate can be made only in one State/UT. Obtaining Domicile Certificate from more than one State/UT is an offence.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A Domicile/Residence Certificate is generally issued to prove that the person bearing the Certificate is a Domicile/Resident of the UT by which the Certificate is being issued.
- This Certificate is required as proof of residence to avail Domicile/Resident Quotas in educational institutions and in the Government Service, as also in case of jobs where local residents are preferred.
