Kerala - Test Insecticide Residue (Sample)

To apply for insecticide residue testing the applicant must follow the below procedure.
Apply In-Person
- The applicant has to reach out to the corresponding pesticide testing laboratory in the state for the application form.
- The contact details of the laboratory is provided in location and contacts section below.
- Applications can also be made in-person through the agriculture department offices and sub-offices.
- Make sure all the required documents are available as stated in the required documents section below.
- The applicant has to fill up the requested details in the application form and then submit the application form along with the supporting documents.
- The applicant has to pay the application fee as requested as mentioned in the Fees section below.
- After the authorities validate your application and the documents that are submitted, they will initiate the process of testing the pesticide residue.
- The applicant will get an intimation regarding the inspection of the premise on the registered mobile through sms /call.
- The insecticide inspector shall inspect the premise and collect the samples for purposes of test or analysis.
- The following intimation form is provided by the officials after the inspection. Intimation form link – Form Link .
- Once the testing is done the test reports are generated and is intimated to the applicant by sms/call.
- The applicant can collect them from the laboratory.
Apply online:
- To apply online visit the official website of NABL: Contact Link.
- The applicant laboratory must be registered as a user with the NABL portal. Testing and Calibration laboratories can apply only as per ISO/IEC 17025: 2017.
- In case of an existing user click the login here button. If you are a new user, click on the register here button.
- Now create a new account by filling up the requested details.
- In the registration form, for the type of CAB select testing from the drop down list among the five types. Enter the address, Country, State, City and contact details information.
- Give the email address and mobile number and click send OTP.
- After entering OTP, mobile number and email id will be validated and thereafter registration can be done.
- After successful registration, you will receive Username and password on your email id.
- Go to the registered user login page URL:Login Enter the credentials you receive in your email id. After submitting the credentials you will be redirected to change password screen. It is mandatory for first time user to change the password
- After changing the password, it opens a new page with the button “Create New Application”.
- Click on create new application, it shows the options “Applying for” choose the option First Accreditation and click on submit
- After submitting the option, you will be redirected to the Laboratory details page. Complete the laboratory details with all the mandatory details.
- In Lab details, if you click yes for “Does accreditation sought for different locations”, it will add a new tab “Location details” where you can add multiple locations. For legal identity details, select and upload documents.
- After saving the form, click Next and you will be redirected to a new tab.
- In new tab location details, it shows a default location. This is the location which the user has added in laboratory details. Users can add more locations by clicking on the button “Click here”.
- After adding location, it will be redirected to the discipline details page.
- For discipline details page, select the Discipline of testing from the dropdown and select the Group from dropdown
- After adding Discipline Details, you will be redirected to the “Scope of Accreditation” tab.
- For location, it shows those values in the dropdown which you have added in the second tab location details. For selecting discipline, it shows those values in the dropdown which you have added in the third tab Discipline Details.
- Name of the product/ material to be tested is required to be filled, however subgroups and product/ material may be the same in certain cases. If CAB has selected multiple types of facilities then the box will show all types of facilities selected. If the same test is to be applied at multiple facilities, multiple selections can be made accordingly to avoid repetitions.
- Then fill in the test method, year of publication and type of range of testing.
- Now go to the organization, once you upload the relevant documents, it opens a separate section for filling employee details. Fill the employee details as required.
- After completing the organization details, click on equipment and enter all the details as required. Unique Identification number is auto generated by the laboratory on its own for each & every equipment individually under scope of accreditation
- If the equipment is calibrated externally, the name of the calibration agency along with the location to be specified in the box provided. If the equipment is calibrated in-house, the traceability details of the master equipment/ reference standard used for calibration to be specified in the box provided
- After completing the equipment details, click on the “Next” tab. It opens the form for reference materials.
- After completing the details of reference materials, click on the “Next” tab. It opens the form for quality control activity.
- When the whole form is completed, click on the enclosure list. If there is any detail which is missing, then it will be shown under the pendency tab.
- If it meets with all the details, then it will show a green tick in front of it under the availability column. #When the whole form is complete, it will show a green tick in front of it and the declaration form will be visible with Terms and conditions.
- After completing all the information/ previewing the application click “Proceed to payment”. It will ask for the password for submission of application. Once the password is entered by the user the application will be finally submitted.
- After final submission, it shows the “View report button”. Clicking on it opens the preview from where you can download the form also.
- After making payment, the application will be redirected to the declaration of the form. At the bottom, it shows the submit button. Click on the submit button and it will ask for a password.
- Once the correct password is inputted, the application is submitted successfully. The status is updated on the NABL website.
- The certificate can be collected by the respective laboratories in person or an email is sent by the laboratories to NABL requesting the certificates.
Apply through Centres:
- To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
- Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
- The operator will process the application online.
- On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
- If verified, it will be sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

This subsequently leads to a high risk of health impacts on the environment, humans and animals. To minimise the risk of negative health impacts, we need to comply with the relevant guidelines and standards for minimising levels of harmful pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides in the food chain.

Functions of Central Insecticide Laboratory:
- To analyse such samples of insecticides sent to it under the Act by any officer or authority and submission of certificates of analysis to the concerned authority.
- To carry out such investigations as may be necessary for the purpose of ensuring the conditions of Registration of Insecticides.
- To determine the efficacy and toxicity of insecticides;
- To carry out such other functions as may be entrusted to it by the Central Government or by a State Government with the permission of the Central Government & after consultation with the Central Insecticides Board.
Activities of Central Insecticide laboratory:
- To verify Quality of samples of Insecticides, submitted by any Officer or Authority Authorized by the Central or State Government.
- To investigate Insecticides with a view to verify conditions of registration.
