Apply In-Person

  1. The applicant shall visit the nearby government office (corporation office, municipal office, panchayat office, etc) and submit the cancellation application for trade license to the local authority. The license needs to be cancelled by the municipal commissioner or executive officer.
  2. Refer the office contact details in the “Office contacts & Locations” section below.
  3. The cancellation application can be obtained in the office.
  4. The applicant should, within thirty days from the date of closing the establishment, notify to the officer in writing.
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. Submit the application form along with the required documents.
  7. The Officer, after receiving the information and if satisfied about its correctness will remove such establishment from the register of establishments and cancel the trade license.
  8. After cancellation, the applicant can get confirmation at the office.


Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online.
  5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  7. If verified, the trade license will be cancelled in a stipulated period of time.

  • Proof of up to date payment of arrears with respect to the certificate.
  • Deed of dissolution in case of partnership firm.
  • ROC document in case of private limited company.

  • The cancellation should be done within the financial year.
  • Filing of final tax returns and payment of tax needs to be done before closing.
  • Prescribed Form should be used for the Application.
  • Please fill the Application form completely and correctly.
  • The Trade License Number should be mentioned.
  • The name, address and other details of the establishment should be mentioned.
  • The reason(s) for cancellation should be mentioned in the application form.
  • The reason(s) given for cancellation should be valid.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • It is required for closure of a business.
  • It is required in order to prevent the government from charging you annual fees and reporting requirements.
  • In case anyone misuses your license and causes liabilities for you. So, it is better to cancel license to be on the safer side.
  • It prevents penalties incurred after closing business.

Trade License is issued by the local government like Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporations. It is a permission to do business in the area which comes under the Local Self Government. The D&O trade license is issued for dangerous and offensive trades. The rules for trade license are specified in Kerala Municipality Act.
