Procedure

• Applications to renew a Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN) practice license are done online.

Apply Online

1. A Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN) can renew their Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN) Practice License online by visiting the Nursing Councils of Kenya Online Services Portal through the following link: NCK Online Service Portal
2. Log into theNCK 'Online Service Portal using your “Username or Email address” and your password.
3. Upon entering your accounts’ homepage, click on the “Renewals” tab in the menu on the left pane to enter the next page.
4. On the Retention page , click on the “Make Retention Application” button to enter the next page where you are required to provide information for your application.
5. Please provide required information for licensing. These include:-

   • Email
   • Mobile
   • Practice type
   • Area of practice (Select General)
   • Work Station Type
   • Work Station /Facility
   • Select Employer.
   • Workstation /Facility

6. Confirm that all the information you have given is correct and click on the “Apply for Renewal ” button.

   • This will cause an invoice for payment of the renewal application fees to be generated.

7. On the Invoice page click on the “Click to Pay Now” button to pay for the Renewed Kenya Registered Nurse Practice Licence

   • Proceed to make the payment using the instructions given online. The Payment instructions will be generated and displayed automatically in the portal. More information about the licensing fees to be paid is given in the “Fee” section of this page

8. Upon making the application payment, a payment receipt and the Renewed Kenya Registered Nurse Practice Licence will be generated online.

   • Note: Wait for approximately 10 minutes then refresh the invoice page. After refreshing the page, you should find copies of the receipt and license ready to be printed.

9. Click on the “Download Receipt “ Button and the “Download License” button to download the payment receipt and Renewed Kenya Registered Nurse Practice Licence respectively.

   • Print the receipt and license and keep the for reference.

• A Licensed Kenya Registered Nurse in Kenya is eligible to make a renewal application for a Kenya Registered Nurse Practice License.
• The practitioner should have attained the required Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Points for renewal.

• The license validity is one year.

Need for the Document

• A Kenyan Registered Nurse needs a practice license in order to practice nursing in Kenya. It is an offence to practice nursing in Kenya without being licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• One needs to have a valid license at all times to practice in Kenya.
