Kenya - Obtain Milk Carriage Permit
ProcedureEdit
- The first step is to acquire a suitable vehicle for the milk transportation and qualified personnel to setup the milk carriage business. Make sure the milk transport vehicle complies with the laid out hygienic and operational requirements.
- Contact the nearest Kenya Dairy Board office to provide the relevant details of the carriage business and required documentations. A list of KDB Office branches can be downloaded through this link.
- Here you will be given and application for a Permit Form 1 to fill and submit. After this you are supposed to make an online form of the application.
Apply OnlineEdit
- Visit the Kenya Dairy Board Licensing Portal to make your application for the milk carriage permit and pay the requisite application fees
- If you are not registered , fill in the required information which include
- (i). Business details
- (ii). Applicant details
- to register.

- After registration, log in to your online account and make a payment for application for inspection. The fee is Ksh 600.
- This will be followed by an inspection of your vehicle and if successful, you are required to pay the requisite license fees, which is Ksh 1,000 . This you can do by logging into your Kenya Dairy Board Licensing Portal dashboard.
- Once payment is made the permit will be processed within fourteen days and it can be downloaded from your online dashboard.
- The milk carriage permit has a validity period of one year and you can start operations immediately.
- Pay monthly cess and levy as and where applicable. Other conditions of issuance of the license should be observed (Non-compliance can lead to suspension of permit)

- In Kenya no person is allowed to carry milk or permit any milk to be carried in a prescribed area except with a valid milk carriage permit any person who contravenes this shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine not exceeding ten thousand shillings or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year or to both.
