Kenya's Business Registering Service has made company registration in Kenya easy for locals via the eCitizen portal. The platform allows individuals to carry out the entire process from name search to actual registration at their convenience. Business Registration Service Contact Details
Apply Online:
Step 1: log in to the e-citizen portal
- Once the business registration process is complete, you will get a notification to your registered email. Log into eCitizen Self-Service website to check the status of your business.
- In case the registered user has forgotten their login password, one can request to reset it by clicking on the “Forget Password” link. Fill in your ID number or registered email address then click on the “Reset my password” tab.
- Then select the preferred method you wish to receive the reset code and get a new password i.e. via text message to the number you registered with or the login email address for your eCitizen portal, then click on the “Proceed” tab.
- Check your email inbox or phone for the confirmation code and key in the sent code on the reset web page.
- Create a new password then confirm it again. Go back to the sign-in page then log in using this new password to access the portal.
Step 2: Download the business registration certificate
- Once log in to the portal, hover the cursor over the “Business Registration Service” option and click on it.
- On the next window a history of all business/company registration will be displayed, click on the “View” tab against the specific business/company registration you wish to download.
- Scroll down then click on either the “Regenerate” or “Download” tab to download the business registration certificate.
- The certificate of incorporation, shall prove that the business is now registered under the business name provided. It also contains details such as registration date, registration number etc.
- The registered business owner will need this certificate for all their official business activities like signing contracts, opening a business bank account, applying for funding, applying for tenders, and more.
