Kenya - Apply for a Private Funeral Home Institution Licence

Procedure[edit]

  • Applications for Private funeral home institution license are done online.

Apply Online

  1. A registered Private funeral home institution can make an application for a Private funeral home Institution License online by visiting the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council’s Online Services Portal through the following link: KMPDC Online Services Portal
  2. Upon entering your accounts’ homepage, click on the “Create Account” Option to register for an account on the KMPDC online portal. This will direct you to the next page where you are to start your licensing process.
  3. Under the “Register for Online Services” menu input the required information.
    • Select “HEALTH FACILITY” under the “SELECT CADRE” option.
    • Input your “Facility Registration Number”
    • Input your email address (Make sure you use the email which the facility has in the Medical Council’s record)
  4. Upon entering the required information for registration click on the “Register for Online Services” Tab.
    • This will cause a confirmation email address to be sent to your email address.
  5. Log into your email address and confirm your registration by clicking on the “Complete Registration” button in the email which has been sent to you.
  6. At this point you can edit the Private funeral home facilities profile by adding your own details as the account administrator. Select the appropriate options depending on whether you’re a Medical Doctor/Dentist or No.
    • For the Medical Doctors and Dentists Select “Yes”, if you already have an KMPDC online account also select “Yes”, then you’ll be prompted to login with your online account details. If you do not have an account you’ll be required to create account before you continue. .
    • For admin who aren’t Medical Doctors and Dentists . Select “No” then fill the form- your name, designation and the rest of the details.
    • Please click on the Set Up Admin Button to continue with the application process.
  7. Click on the “Apply for Private Medical or Dental Institution Licence” circle or click on the “Apply for License” tab in the menu on the left pane.
  8. This will direct you to the Application for Medica/Dental Institution page where you are to give the details of the professionals in your facility. This is done by clicking on the red “Download Template” link to download the personnel list template. Fill in the details of the health professionals employed by your facility in the form then upload the file back to the account.
  9. Confirm the declaration and then click on the “Click here to make New Application for Facility” button to begin the licensing process.
  10. This will direct you to the next page where you are to enter the required information. These include:-
    • Email
    • Mobile
    • Health Institution type (Make sure you Select “Private Funeral Home”)
    • Select county
  11. Confirm that all the information you have given is correct and click on the “Save & Continue” button.
    • This will cause an invoice for payment of the licensing fees to be generated.
  12. On the MPDC Invoice page “Click to Pay Now” button to pay for the Private funeral home Institution Licence
    • Proceed to make the payment using the instructions given online. The Payment instructions will be generated and displayed automatically in the portal. More information about the Replacement fees to be paid is given in the “Fee” section of this page
  13. Upon making the payment ,a payment receipt and the Annual Private funeral home Institution Licence will be generated online.
    • Note: Wait for approximately 10 minutes then refresh the invoice page. After refreshing the page, you should find receipt and license ready to be printed.
  14. Click on the “Download Receipt “ Button and the “Download License” button to download the payment receipt and Annual Private funeral home institutions Licence respectively.
    • Print the receipt and license and keep the for reference.

  • Company or Business Registration Certificate
  • Certified copies of Professional Certificates of all health Professionals working therein including licenses from their respective Regulatory Authorities.
  • Registration Certificate of Private funeral home Institution.

Eligibility[edit]

  • Registered Private funeral home institutions by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council are eligible to apply for a Private funeral home institutions license.

Fees[edit]

  • Annual Licence Fee Kshs.20,000.00

Validity[edit]

  • License is valid for a period of one year.

Required information[edit]

To be completed by the applicant

  • Name and address of the funeral home Institution
  • Company/business registration certificate no
  • Location
  • Location of branches (if any)
  • Full names and address of the applicant
  • State business owner(s) (if business name) or directors (if company) of the applicant/funeral home and their current addresses and telephone contacts
  • State the administrator or the chief executive officer of the institution/funeral home and the contacts
  • Nationality of the directors of the applicant/funeral home
  • Kenya national identity card no./passport no. For the directors/owner(s) of the applicant/funeral home
  • Work permit for the directors/owner(s) of the applicant/funeral home(if applicable)
  • Give full names of the Pathologist who shall be in charge of post-mortem at the Funeral Home.
    • Give full details of professional qualifications of the professional named at paragraph above. Include year and place where obtained.
    • State work experience of the person named above and name institutions were obtained and date.
  • Give full names and professional qualifications of any other person (s), identified by your institution, to undertake care at the institution, Laboratory Technicians, Technicians etc)

  • A private funeral home institution needs to be registered with the Kenya medical practitioners and dentist council in order to be licensed to carry out its operation in Kenya.
