Kenya - Apply for a Duplicate Teachers Registration Certificate with the Teacher Service Commission

Apply Online

  1. To apply for a Duplicate Teachers Registration Certificate with the Teacher Service Commission, applicant should visit the TSC online portal and select the “Online Services” tab, on the dropdown list, then select “Teachers Online Services”.
  2. This will prompt the TSC online service page to open, click on the “Application for Duplicate Registration Certificate” hyperlink.
  3. The applicant will be required to provide/enter the following information to enable the application process:
    • Applicant Identity card/ Passport Number
    • Personal TSC Number
    • Surname of the applicant
    • KRA pin
    • Category (ECD, Primary,Post Primary)
  4. After all the details have been provided, click on the “Next” tab to go to step 2 that involves provision of basic details.
  5. In step 2, all the fields are mandatory hence they must be filled in correctly. Note that the permanent address and the current address must be correct since this is where the TSC duplicate registration certificate will be mailed sent to. Click on the “Next” tab to save and proceed to step 3.
  6. At this point all the uploaded. All the required certificates must be uploaded for one to proceed to the next step.
  7. In step 4, fill the details and choose the respective supporting document and click on the “Save Document” tab to upload. To view the uploaded document click on the “View” icon, to delete the document click on the “Delete” icon.
  8. Click on the “Next” button to proceed to the final step, where the applicant will be required to provide/share proof of payment for the registration fees of Ksh 2060. Thus applicants are required to ensure their have Bank Deposit Slip before proceeding with the application. Please refer to the “Fees” Section of this page for more details.
  9. Click on the “Save and finalize” button to view the summary page or click on the “Back” button if you wish to clarify your application before finalizing. The summary page can be printed for record keeping.
  10. Upon submission, the applicant will receive a TSC submission notification on their device.
  11. Upon receipt of the registration request, the TSC Registration office will start the vetting process to ensure that the applicant has the right qualification to be registered as a teacher which is within 30 days of the date of submission.
  12. If the application is successful, the applicant is issued with the duplicate Registration Certificate, which bears the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer’s signature.
  13. The Certificate is then immediately posted to the teacher through the postal address indicated in the application.

  • A copy of Passport (Non-citizen, National identity card (citizens).
  • Passport photo.
  • KRA Pin Certificate
  • Police report/affidavit
  • Proof of payment of the application fee
  • Affidavit if any of the names differ or miss in the documents
  • Any other supporting documentation as may be requested by the Authority.

EligibilityEdit

  • Registered Teachers (Citizen & Non-Citizens) with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), whose Certificate of Registration is either lost, destroyed or misplaced



FeesEdit

  • Duplicate Certificate costs a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 2055/, which is deposited to the TSC Registration Account National Bank of Kenya Direct Banking to A/C No. 01001005707400.
  •   Ensure you have Bank Deposit Slip before proceeding with the duplicate certificate application.



ValidityEdit

  • The registration certificate validity is indefinite unless suspended, revoked, or cancelled by the Authority.

REFUSAL TO REGISTER
Section 27 of TSC Act 2012 mandates the Commission not register a person as a teacher who;

  • Does not possess the prescribed qualifications.
  • Is not of good moral character.
  • Has been convicted of a sexual offence or an offence committed against a learner.
  • Has been convicted of a criminal offence which in the opinion of the Commission, renders the person unfit to be teacher.
  • Is engaged in any activities which in the opinion of the Commission, are prejudicial to peace, good order or good government in Kenya.
  • Suffers from such physical or mental infirmity which in the opinion of a registered medical practitioner renders the person incapable of performing the duties of a teacher.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • In accordance with article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya, Section 23 of TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION ACT No. 20 of 2012, it is an offence for any person to engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher.
  • Incase where the certificate is lost, damaged or stolen the holder of the certificate is required to apply for a duplicate with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
