To apply for a Land Rates Clearance Certificate in Kenya, you'll need to follow the specific procedures set by your local county government or municipal authority, as the process can vary from one area to another. Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning Contacts

Apply Online

  1. Individuals wishing to obtain a land clearance certificate in can do so by making an application with the Ministry of Lands online portal through the following Ardhisasa Online platform
  2. Upon entering Ardhisasa platform, click on the “Register” button to register for an account on the online portal. This will direct the applicant to the next page where they are to start their registration process.
  3. On the next page choose between “Individual registration” or “Company registration” depending on the type of registration they want to do.
  4. Upon entering the next page enter the required information for registration and click on the “Verify” button for verification to be done online. The information needed includes: -



Individual Registration

  1. Identification details (serial number of the current ID, ID number)
  2. Official mobile number (registered using their ID number)
  3. Personal e-mail address
  4. Set up a strong password



Company Registration

  1. Company registration number
  2. Official company mobile number (registered using a director’s ID number)
  3. Company e-mail address
  4. Set up a strong password
  5. During the verification process a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the applicant's phone and email address, enter the OTP for verifications to be complete.
  6. Once done an Ardhisasa Identity Number will be sent to the applicant's phone, which the applicant can use when logging into their online account.
  7. The applicant should then log into their Ardhisasa account using their ID Number/ Ardhisasa ID, password, and OTP.
  8. Upon entering the accounts home page, go to the “Services” and click on the “View More” button inside the Land Administration Tab to proceed to the next page
  9. Upon entering the next page click on the “Pay Land Rent” option to enter the next page where the applicant is required to provide information for the land rent clearance application application.
  10. Enter the Title Number in the Search section using the following formats:
  11. Registration Unit/Registration Section/Parcel Number.
  12. For Nairobi Blocks: Nairobi/Block12/345 or Block No/Parcel Number (for example 12/345)
  13. For Mombasa Parcels: Mainland North (or South)/Roman Number/Parcel Number (for example MN/IV/123)
  14. For other towns and municipalities: Kiambu/MunicipalityBlock1/234
  15. After searching for the parcel, the pending payments will be listed.
  16. Under the Actions Section, click on the “Pay” button to initiate the process to make the land rent payments. Choose the Payment method preferred and follow the instructions given to make the payment.
  17. Upon making the payment the applicant will receive a payment Confirmation message on their phone.
  18. The applicant should wait for approximately 5 minutes and then refresh the payments page. After refreshing the page, Click on the “Confirm” button to complete the transaction. The payments will reflect on the Ardhisasa account instantly.
  19. Click on the “Download” button to download the Clearance Certificate or Print it directly from the site.
