Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for an Agriculture Loan, the applicant must visit the nearest Agricultural Finance Corporation office to make then application.
  2. The address and contact details of the Agricultural Finance Corporation can be found through the following Link.
  3. The contacts details can also be found in the ’Office Locations & Contacts‘ of this page.
  4. Upon visiting the Agricultural Finance Corporation office and the applicant should request a loan application form from the offices present.
  5. The applicant should complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest the form with your signature once completed.
  6. Submit the completed application form to the Agricultural Finance Corporation officer and the required documents. A list of the required documents can be found in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The Agricultural Finance Corporation officers will then verify the documents submitted and schedule a farm visit to come to access the farm.
  8. On the scheduled date (Usually after 2days), The Agricultural Finance Corporation officers will come and access the farm to confirm the farms’
    • Location and land size
    • Valuation of the project /security farms/business premises
    • Assets and liabilities (infrastructures, machinery, animal and farming activities
  9. Upon assessment, the officers will give the applicant loan application feedback within 48 hours of the assessment and the applicant will be asked to present him/herself to execute the loan agreement and pay the application and processing fees.
    • The fees to be paid are mentioned in the “Fees ” section of this page.
  10. If the assessment is successful, the loan will be processed, approved, and disbursed within 5 working days from execution of the loan agreement.
  11. If the assessment is unsuccessful the applicant has a period of 7 days to appeal to the Agricultural Finance Corporation.

Required DocumentsEdit

Know Your Customer (KYC)

  • Application letter for the intended project
  • Detailed Business plan showing the financial plans for projected income and profit/loss expected and a clear marketing plan showing projected demand and secured contract (where applicable)
  • A copy of the National Identification card and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN Certificate
  • Two (2) colored passport photos


Financial/Assets

  • Certified bank statements for the last twelve (12) months
  • Loan statement where applicable
  • Provide proof of other incomes earned (e.g. rent, salaries, businesses, vehicles and pension among others)
  • Proof of the ownership of all declared assets


Securities

  • Title deed(s) offered as security for the proposed loan
  • A sketch map showing the location of the security land offered as security for the proposed loan
  • Obtain a certificate of official search from the Lands office for the security title (At least three (3) months old)
  • Valuation report: Carry out the valuation of the property to be availed for the security farm(s)
  • Real estate i.e. residential and commercial properties
  • Cash and bank guarantees
  • Charge on lease


Farm visit verification

  • Confirmation of project farm, location and land size
  • Conduct valuation of the project /security farms/business premises
  • Confirmation of the assets and liabilities (infrastructures, machinery, animal and farming activities

EligibilityEdit

  • Any Individual who wants to engage in agricultural activities in Kenya.
  • The applicant should have tangible security for the loan.
  • The applicant should be able to provide 20 % equity contribution toward the project.


FeesEdit

Advance loan fees

  • Application fee –Ksh.500.00
  • Processing fee - Minimum of Ksh.3,000
  • Commitment fee – 1.5% of the loan amount
  • Conveyance fee which depends on the loan amount


ValidityEdit

The loan should be repaid within the agreed period of time.
