- Foreign Medical Practitioners not registered in Kenya wishing to practice Medicine in Kenya can make an application for temporary registration as a medical practitioner by visiting the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council’s (KMPDC) offices to make the application. The contact information of the KMPDC offices can be found in the “Office Location & Contact” Section of this page.
- Here the applicant will be given an Application For Temporary Registration as a Medical Practitioner to fill and submit. The application form can also downloaded from the KMPDC’s official website through the following link.
- Make sure you are eligible to make this application. The “Eligibility” requirements are mentioned in the eligibility section of this page.
- Fill in the application form and attach the required documents. A list of the required documents is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page. These include:-
- Curriculum Vitae
- Certificate of proficiency in English
- A certified copy of a valid registration certificate issued in the country of qualification
- A certified copy of a certificate of good standing or a similar document issued during the preceding three (3) months by the registering Authority in the country where a person was working and/or studying;
- A certified copy of original basic degree
- Certified true copies of English translations of all documents presented, if indicated
- Relevant testimonials together with relevant English translations;
- Current passport size photo
- Transcripts
- Copy of the national identification card
- Submit the completed application form and all the required documents to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council’s offices and proceed to pay the required fees. Details of the required fees for registration are provided in the “Fees” Section of this page.
- Submit the payment receipt to the KMPDC Offices for processing.
- At this point the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council will go through your application documents to determine their authenticity and if they meet the requirements.
- Upon completion of the registration process, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council will contact the applicant to collect their Temporary Medical Practitioners Registration Certificate in person.
- The whole process is usually completed after a period of five days.
- The applicant will be required to produce proof of identity when collecting the Temporary Medical Practitioners Registration Certificate and Practice License

EligibilityEdit
- Any practitioner not registered in the Republic of Kenya but who, having valid qualifications from a different country, and who is desirous of giving medical services in the course of any humanitarian or other valid cause, is eligible to make the application.
- A person who:−
- is not a citizen of Kenya or of a partner state of the East African Community
- is a holder of a degree or other qualification recognized by the Council as making him eligible for registration
- presents proof of registration from the country of origin or any other jurisdiction
- satisfies the Council that, he has acquired sufficient knowledge of, and experience in, the practice of medicine
- satisfies the Council that he is a person of good moral standing
- has passed an examination prescribed by the Council, may apply to the Council for temporary registration as a foreign medical practitioner

- A medical practitioner needs to register with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council in order to practice medicine in Kenya. It is an offence to practice medicine in Kenya without registering with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
