If your RC is stolen or lost, you have to file a complaint and get FIR copy from police station. In case of damaged or torned RC, you don't have to make a complaint. The damaged remains will be required to apply.

Apply In-Person for the duplicate RC

  1. As a first step please go to the local police station and file an FIR and bring a copy of it to the RTO office.
  2. To apply for duplicate vehicle registration certificate in Karnataka the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO offices: Contacts Link

  5. You need to bring your vehicle for physical verification as required
  6. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
  7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  8. Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  9. Authorities will inspect the vehicle – Chassis number particularly
  10. If the details and documents are in place then the authorities will process the application further

Apply In-Person to replace damaged RC

  1. In this process the applicant has to bring the damaged or torned pieces of original RC to submit and don’t require police certificate (FIR) and follow the steps as mentioned above

Apply Online

  1. Please use the link to reach online portal Parivahan : Online Portal
  2. Enter the registration Number as prompted and hit “PROCEED”
  3. New screen will open to give options to choose. Choose “Misc (TO/CoA/HPA/HPC/HPT/DupRC)” to get new screen.
  4. Enter your Chassis (Last 5 digits) number and click the button next to chassis number box
  5. In the next screen, Fill in required details and upload documents to process the online procedure.
  6. Take printout of acknowledgment and application.
  7. You can then submit this application along with bunch of required documents to the RTO officer personally to process further as per apply in person procedure

  1. To book appointment, please use the following link: Appointment Link
  2. Enter the registration Number as prompted and hit “PROCEED”
  3. In the next window, select “book appointment” under “Appointment” option to get the next screen
  4. Enter the Application Number in the prompted box and hit “get user details” to process the request for getting the slot

InstructionsEdit


  • If you lost you RC book first you must lodge a complaint in the local police station where you lost your RC book.
  • Owner of the vehicle can apply for duplicate Registration Certificate
  • An application for the issue of a duplicate Certificate of Registration shall be made in Form 26.
  • If vehicle is covered by Finance/ Hire Purchase/ Lease, then the signatures of the Financier must be obtained on Form 26 in duplicate. (To be made in duplicate if the vehicle is held under an agreement of Hire-Purchase/Hypothecation/Lease and in triplicate if the original Registering Authority is different, the duplicate copy and the triplicate copy with the endorsement of the Registering Authority to be returned to the Financier and Registering Authority simultaneously on the issue of Duplicate Certificate)
  • Pay the appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
  • You need to submit the application form in form 26 along with the copy of complaint lodged regarding the loss of RC book and along with required documents to the Registering Authority (Regional Transport Officer (or) Motor Vehicle Inspector, Grade-I / II.) in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • All the vehicles need to be registered as per the Motor Vehicle Act,1988. The vehicles are provided with unique registration number. Once the vehicle is registered, a certificate is issued to the owner. The registration certificate is used as a proof for authorized owner of the vehicle.
  • If the Registration certificate is lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced then one need to apply for a duplicate registration certificate for vehicle
  • After one registers his / her vehicle – He / She will receive a unique number to use it in number board.
  • When a bike owned by a individual sold to another person – the name transfer has to be made with the authorities concerned.
