Apply through Online Portal

Please visit the website : online portal link and select “Apply Online” option under ONLINE APPLICATION option from the home page.
In the new page, please enter your mobile number and hit “Proceed” to reach the next page for detailed instruction.
From the menu please select NEW REQUEST and choose “Residence / Domicile Certificates” option.
In the new page please select Language and “Domicile Certificate” to reach next page.
The resulting page will prompt to enter /select appropriate details. After filling the details, please Hit “Search” to get new page with details.
If the details are correct, please select appropriate option to get the next window to upload required documents and hit make payment tab to reach the next page.
In the given page please select appropriate payment gateway option (Credit / Debit / Net Banking) to complete the payment.
You will get an acknowledgement for the transaction and the same would have reached your registered mobile.
Please keep the details safely to get the status of your application.
From this point on wards the process will be same as how they processed in apply in person option to issue the certificate.

Apply online:

To Apply for Local Certificate, the applicant has to use the following link – link
If the applicant is a new user click the “Register HERE” button.
The applicant has to enter the Aadhar number in the newly opened page.
The applicant will get the OTP from the registered mobile number.
The applicant has to enter the OTP number and click the “Allow” button.
The applicant has to enter all the Email ID, Password, Phone number and click the “Submit” button.
Now, the applicant has to login and click the “LOGIN IN”.
The applicant has to select the respective department and the applying certificate.
Enter all the details in the application form.
Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
The fee for this procedure is Rs. 25.
After completion, the applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
Once the verification process gets completed by the respective officer.
The applicant gets the notification of successful process through mail or SMS.
The processing time for this procedure is within 7 days.

Apply In-Person

In order to apply for Domicile or residence certificate in Karnataka, applicant has to go to the respective Taluk, Nadakacheri office in whose jurisdiction the candidate usually resides. Link for the office details : Contact Link
Submit a written application form along with required documents to the authority.
Authorities after checking the attached documents and details submitted, will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
The application will be verified by the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and Revenue Inspector (RI).
There will be a ground level verification and scrutiny of the documents and details provided.
Once the verification is over, these officials will submit their report to the Thaasildhaar.
Thaasildhaar will decide on whether to issue the Income Certificate to the applicant.
Applicant will get the certificate in 7 days after due verification.

The local certificate is issued by the Revenue Department Officer under the Taluk Office/Tahsildar, it is the concerned department of the local certificate in Karnataka.

Need for the DocumentEdit

A Domicile/Residence Certificate is generally issued to prove that the person bearing the Certificate is a Domicile/Resident of the State/UT by which the Certificate is being issued. This Certificate is required as proof of residence to avail Domicile/Resident Quotas in educational institutions and in the Government Service, as also in case of jobs where local residents are preferred.
This certificate is used for many other purpose including Passport, Visa etc.
