Procedure

A ration card/Smart ration card needs to be cancelled in order to obtain Surrender Certificate so that consumer can apply for new one under certain circumstances like marriage, relocation, transfer etc.
Apply In-Person

1. In order to cancel ration card, please apply with ration office/shop of your area OR District and Block Level Supply officer of the respective place where the person was residing previously as applicable.

4. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used
5. Please submit the completed cancellation application, original ration card along with required documents to the respective authority.
6. Authorities will do the due diligence of the submitted application and documents. They will verify with their records.
7. Please follow the authorities guidelines for further processing.
8. Upon satisfactory results, consumer is provided with a cancellation certificate on the same day or as notified.
   

Apply Online:

1. To Cancel your Ration Card or Smart Ration Card in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the following webpage: Link.
2. Now click on the "Ration Card" option and proceed.
3. A new page will open up, where the applicant needs to log in using their login credentials.
4. After login, the applicant shall choose an appropriate option for making amendments in the Ration Card and proceed further.
5. On a newly opened page, the applicant shall fill up the application form with all the necessary details and complete the given application form.
6. Now the applicant shall upload scanned copies of all the " Required Documents" for further processing.
7. Once the documents are uploaded, provide the mobile number and enter the received OTP.
8. Now click on "Submit" and complete the process.
9. On successful verification, the changes will be made.

Apply through Centres:

1. To Cancel your Ration Card or Smart Ration Card in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the process.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

• For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• If a consumer needs to submit or cancel his/her ration card for applying new one at the place where he/she got transferred.
• Surrender certificate is required from the old ration shop to apply with the ration department in the new area.
