Apply In-Person
- If you want to get a private marriage at the Registrar General’s Department (RGD), you should go to the RGD office. Please view the RGD contact details through this link: - RGD contacts.
- Contact any of the RGD offices in Jamaica to book an appointment for your private wedding and set a suitable date and time for the wedding.
- Then prepare the required documents for the private wedding. Note that the Bride and groom are required be residing in Jamaica for a minimum of 24 hours before the marriage ceremony.
- Submit your documents to the RDG office for verification and confirmation that the documents are complete as required.
- Pay the wedding service fees at the RGD cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
- On the wedding ceremony date, both the bride and the groom go to the RGD office and participate in the ceremony.
- After the wedding, the RGD will prepare two marriage certificate within 3 to 4 working days and issue the certificates to you.

- Certified copies of bride and groom's birth certificates.
- Valid identification for bride and groom (National ID, Passport, Driver's Licence, etc.).
- Document verifying the occupation of bride and groom.
- If either party was previously married, marriage certificate for previous marriage certified or final divorce papers or death certificate of the deceased spouse.
- The relevant fees.
- Minister’s Marriage Licence from the Ministry of Justice.

EligibilityEdit
- Individuals who wish to get married at the RGD are eligible to apply provided the groom and the bride have resided in Jamaica for a minimum of 24 hours before the marriage ceremony.

- The service cost is $1,000.

InstructionsEdit
- You must bring two witnesses who are 18 years and older.
- Brides may choose to wear traditional white wedding gowns, complete with a veil and bouquet.
- Ceremonies are held Mondays to Thursdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Fridays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and by special appointment on Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- All ceremonies are performed by a Civil Registrar or Marriage Officer.
- Each couple is allowed eight guests, including two witnesses.
