How to Apply - Guidance to Apply Student Loan Online with Images
- The Student’s Loan Bureau (SLB) is the premier student loan financing organization in Jamaica. You can view their contact details via this link:Link
- To apply for the student loan, you must first complete the application form electronically through the SLB online portal:Link enter your credentials to login or register if you if you don’t have an account.
- Note: you required a valid Tax Registration Number (TRN) to complete your online registration. Complete the application form according to this instructions provided by the SLB: Link
- Make a list of references with each person's name, their job title or relation to you, and their contact information. Note that most applications will want two referees or guarantor and some banks or Government departments will only want a recommendation letter from guarantor or referees coming from the same Bank where you have an account.
- Your two Referees are not supposed to be your immediate family member, a student or any member of your house hold
- Upload all the required documents through the online platform and book an appointment for an interview for the loan application with the SLB, note that you will be required to present the original documents on the day of your interview or drop them at the drop box of the SLB office or via the Drop off facility of SLB participating institutions
- The SLB will review your application and if the application meets the required standards, it will be forward to the SLB committee for further review and approval
- Upon approval, the SLB loan committee will publicize the approved applicants and the names shall be posted on the SBL website and also printed in the Local newspaper
- The approved student loans will be disbursed to directly to Higher Education Institution’s Bank Accounts.
- Then the education Institutions will verify that you the beneficiary of the student loan has reported and been registered or you have passed all the necessary examinations allowing you to advance to the next level of study
- After verification the institution will remit to your bank account the amount of loan received from the Board.
Note:
- The information that you supply will be verified by the Students Loan Bureau, using means provided under the law for this purpose. If you purposefully give false or misleading information, you will be denied any financial assistance from the Students Loan Bureau and any sums outstanding under this loan program will be recalled immediately.
- Money received on the basis of inaccurate information may constitute a fraud punishable by law with possible imprisonment.

- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
- Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)
- Identification document (Passport, Driver's Licence, National Identification or Voter's ID)
- Birth Certificate
- Tertiary level Transcript showing the Grade Point Average (GPA) for the previous academic year
- Letter of acceptance for students who will be entering the institution for the first time
- Proof of banking information
- Income verification for all employed members of the household
- Proof of PATH benefit for household member(s) registered under the PATH scheme
- Declaration Form
- Public Sector Worker Benefit Forms
- Guarantor Indemnity form

- To be Eligible you must be a citizen of Jamaica in a private tertiary institution.
- Applicants must be Jamaican students seeking to pursue higher education in an accredited private institution of higher learning.
- Jamaica students who can prove that they are in need of financial assistance for education-related expenses are eligible
- Able to establish your financial need and Making satisfactory academic progress or enrolled in or accepted to pursue an approved programme of study.

- Once your loan is approved you may change the school of choice, programme or enrolment status stated on the application. An adjustment fee must be paid.
- Guarantors must be between the ages of 18 and 60, inclusive, must have a valid TRN and must be permanently employed for at least a year. However, if your guarantor is over 60, he/she can be assessed to determine whether or not he/she is financially able to undertake the responsibility in the event of the beneficiary's delinquency
