Procedure

1. The registration of a teacher has to be done at The Teaching Council.
2. Applicants who are qualified in Ireland and who are not new graduates and who wish to begin or return to teaching after a period of absence may apply to the Teaching Council for Registration.
3. The applicants have to produce a character evidence and they would have to go through a process of Garda vetting. This may take up to 10 weeks, so applicants are advised to apply for registration at least 12 weeks in advance of their planned return to (or commencement of) teaching.
