Apply In-Person :
- To apply for a TR Driver License (Transport / Commercial) in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
- Application Form in Form 8 is required. Application form can be obtained from the following link : Form 8
- Form No 1(Self declaration as to the physical fitness for Non- Transport vehicles only) Link : Form 1
- Form No 1-A (Medical Certificate-for Transport Vehicles only). Link : Form 1A
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for TR driving license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- For a TR Driving License, the Inspector of motor vehicles will conduct the test of competence to drive vehicle as per the procedures laid down under the rule 15 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. After satisfaction about the driving skills he will pass.
- In case of failure in the first attempt of the driving test, the applicant is eligible to appear for the second appearance only after minimum period of seven days from the date of first appearance.
- In case the applicant does not pass even after three appearances, he/she shall not be qualified to re-appear for such test before the expiry of sixty days from the date of such last test.
- If you have completed the test successfully, you will be called for taking photograph and thumb impression for issuing Driver License.

- To apply for TR (Transport, Commercial) driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.

- Applicants for a TR Driver License should appear personally before the Licensing Authority with the following documents :
- Application form in Form 8 – Link : Form 8
- Valid Learner License for the class applied for
- Proof of age, appropriate for relevant class of vehicle :
- Ration card, Voter identity card, Life insurance policy, Passport, School certificate, Birth certificate or
- Certificate granted by a registered medical practitioner not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon(as applicable) or
- Self-swearing Affidavit by an applicant before an executive Magistrate or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of age
- Proof of residence :
- Ration Card, Voter identity card, Aadhar Identity Card, Pay slip issued by any office of the central government or a state government; Electricity bill, Telephone bill, House tax receipt showing the name of the name of the applicant
- If the applicant is not able to produce any of the above documents for a sufficient reason the licensing authority may accept any affidavit sworn by the applicant before an Executive Magistrate, or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of residence
- Three recent passport size photographs of the applicant.
- Aadhaar Card
- In case of transport vehicles certificate in CMV Form 5 issued by driving training school.
- Documents of vehicle in which applicant proposes to appear for test of competence to drive (such as Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under Control Certificate).
- Consent letter as applicable from vehicle owner to conduct driving test in his vehicle, if the vehicle is not owned by the applicant.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant should have a valid one year old license (LMV), which can be called as one year of experience.
- Qualification : Minimum 8th Pass
- Should have local residential proof
- Applicant should be minimum 20 years old

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A TR Driving License is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a Transport or Commercial vehicle.
- One need to get TR Driver License in ordered to drive commercial transportation including light goods carrier and passenger carrier, even if he has a valid driving license to operate two wheeler and car
- TR Driver license is issued for eligible driver with valid one year old driving license
- Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in India, no person can drive a transport or commercial vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
