Procedure

Apply In-Person

• To apply for Institution / Bus permit in Gujarat the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

• Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application form
  
• Make sure you have completed respective application form for the permit.
  
• Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees
  
• Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  
• Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  
• After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit include Vehicle condition, speed control apparatus, seating arrangements etc. will be carried by authorities.

Apply Online

1. The applicant willing to apply for institution or school buses permit must visit the website using the link below. link
2. The applicant needs to select “Permit Online” option under Other online services.
3. The applicant needs to select “Gujarat” in the drop-down menu and click “proceed”.
4. The applicant needs to fill in prompted details.
5. Upload required documents and take printout of acknowledgement.
6. The applicant needs to present the completed application forms in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fee.
7. On the appointment date, the applicant needs to visit RTO office before 11:30 am and submit the documents
8. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit include Vehicle condition, speed control apparatus, seating arrangements etc. will be carried by authorities.
9. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.
10. The applicant will receive the permit after 15 days of submission of the application form.

5. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
   
6. Insurance Certificate.
   
7. Report on speed control installation
   
8. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
9. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
   
10. Passport size photo-2
    
11. Pollution under control certificate

Validity

• Permits are valid for 5 years
  
• Usually the renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO in the matter of regular permits.

Need for the Document

• “educational institution bus” permit means an omnibus, which is owned by a college, school or other educational institution and used solely for the purpose of transporting students or staff of the educational institution in connection with any of its activities
  
• For identification these vehicles are usually painted in golden yellow color.
  
• Contract Carriage Permit is the most common type of permit granted for transport vehicle for the purpose applied for (Public transport / transport under contract)
