Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Flight Radio Telephony Operator License in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.

3. Application form will provide by the authority officer.
4. Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
5. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. If the receiving officers is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the issue of a licence and the prescribed application form has been completed and presented in the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed application fees, after which the licence will be issued.
8. You are also to proceed to pay the prescribed application fees and submit the payment receipt to together with the application documents
9. A processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the Flight Radio Telephony Operator License application, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect your renewed license at the GCAA’s Personnel Licensing offices.
10. The applicant required to carry your identification documents when collecting your new license.
11. The processing time for this procedure takes 7 days.

Required Documents

• Application form
• Documents relating to proof of age, date of birth, full name and nationality. (Copies of these documents must be legible and will be certified by licensing staff as true copies of the original. Where a document is printed in a language other than English, the applicant must provide a notarized translation).
• Two recent photographs (approximately 2 cm by 2.5cm) taken from the same negative (full face).
• Medical Certificate from authorized Civil Aviation Medical examiner.
• All personal flying Log Book(s) and/or ATO records, its entries certified by the relevant. Authorities e.g. Chief Flight Instructor, Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, etc.
• Evidence of qualification to meet the requirement for the issue/renewal of the license.
• Payment receipt of the prescribed fees.

Eligibility

• The applicant should be at least seventeen (17) years of age.
• Have the ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
• Have undergone the relevant training and passed the written knowledge test for a radio telephone operator license the results of which are valid for twenty-four months (2 years) after passing the examination.
• Demonstrate a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges granted to a holder of a flight radiotelephone operator license in an oral examination done by the examiners.
