Ghana - Obtain Court Bailiff License

Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain Court Bailiff License in person, the applicant must visit the General Legal Council office or Supreme Court of Ghana or Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.

- Applicant should obtain the registration form from the respective office.
- Applicant must be filled all the information in the registration form.
- The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Please visit to the respective office and submit the completed application form along with the required document to the respective authorities.
- Authorities after receiving the application will check the attached documents and details.
- The respective authority will assign the application for further processing to the Village Administrative Officer OR the authorities concerned.
- Once the verification is over, these officials will submit their report to the respective authority to decide and issue the license to the applicant.
- The Processing time for this procedure takes 14 days.

- Recommendation from a Senior Practicing Court Bailiff.
- Certificate of Registration of Trade Name.
- Insurance policy for Burglary and Fire.
- Receipt for office rent.
- Bank statement.
- Payment of license fees.
- Passport photographs (3 copies)
- Certificate of no objection from Ghana Court Bailiff Association Executives.
- Identity Card of applicant
- Ghana card
- written / prescribed application form
- Proof of residence of deceased person (Voter ID / DL / Bank Pass Book etc.,)

InstructionsEdit
- The court bailiff shall not sell any of the attached property to himself or herself or a member of his or her family or a firm or company in which he or she has an interest.
- Where property to be attached by the court bailiff is over three thousand shillings, Court Bailiff shall produce to the appointing authority a cover policy of the estimated value of the property.
- Within fourteen days of taking out a License, the court bailiff should show that the general insurance has been taken.

Every application for a Court Bailiff License and appointment as a court bailiff shall be in writing and shall state:
- The full name, place of business and postal address of the applicant.
- The language in which the applicant is literate and his or her standard of education.
- The facilities and their location the applicant has for the safe storage of goods.
- The name of the applicant’s bankers and the address of the branch in which his or her account is kept.
- The permanent place of the applicant’s residence, and
- Names and addresses of three referee.
