Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Replacement of Lost Certificates in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office.
- Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
- Applicants approach the WAEC office and applicant has to request the new certificates.
- Applicant has to enter all the information in the written application form.
- Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
- The completed application form must submit to the WAEC office.
- This application will be processed and information will be verified by the WAEC office.
- Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office for verification and processing.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Upon making the payment, WAEC will process the application and inform the applicant once the processing is completed and a duplicate certificate is availed for collection at the WAEC office.
- Once the certificate is availed for collection, the applicant should visit the WAEC office with his/her valid identification document or passport to collect the duplicate certificate in person.
- If the certificate is for a minor, one parent of the minor or an official guardian of the minor will accompany the minor with his/her original identification card and the original birth certificate of the minor.
- The Processing time for this procedure is 10-30 days.

InstructionsEdit
- Applicants are required to apply for the certificate online and collect the certificate in person at the WAEC office upon receiving the notification.
- Manual or emailed applications including bank slips for payment are not accepted.
- If the application status is pended, the applicant should delete all the application information and start a new application.
- Application with different examination details or those that have not met all the required details will not be accepted.
- Name on the Id or Passport or Birth certificate must those used in the examination.
- Applicants who have legally changed their names must attach the legal document proving the name changed. Note that sworn-in affidavits are not accepted.

- The certificates are proof that one has acquired Primary/ Secondary education in Ghana.
Information which might helpEdit
- WAEC / WACCE/BECE do not issue duplicate certificates. This means that once your certificate has been given to you by the school you attended there is no way the Council will reissue another certificate when it gets lost or damaged.
- It now issues Attestation of Results for WAEC/ BECE certificate that have been misplaced or damaged. The Attestation of the result according to the Examinations Council is as valid as the original lost or damaged certificate.
- The Attestation is only issued to individual candidates or persons for their possession. The Attestation when ready must be collected personally by the applicant from the Offices of WAEC in Accra or the applicant’s region.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
- The certificates are used when applying for admission to higher levels of education i.e. tertiary levels.
- The certificates are required when applying for job placements.
