Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To donate blood, the donors must go to the Blood Centres located in Fiji.
2. CMW Location link

4. Labasa Hospital link
5. The donors can donate the blood, when the government or NGO in Fiji conducts the blood drives throughout the Fiji.
6. The CMW, Labasa, and Lautoka hospitals have 24/7 blood donation facility.
7. The blood centres will check the any infections after receiving the blood from the donors.
8. If all the health check-ups are perfect, then the male donors can donate blood once in 3 months, and female Donors can donate once in 4 months.
9. The donors do not have to pay any fee for donating blood.

Eligibility

• Any male and female, who is between 16 and 65 years of age, and also should be more than 50 kg is eligible to donate blood.
• The individual must be fit and healthy to donate blood.
  

Fees

No fee is required for donating blood.

Validity

• Male donors can donate blood once in 3 months.
• Female donors can donate blood once in 4 months.

Donating blood will take 20 to 30 minutes.

Instructions

Who can’t donate blood?

• Pregnant women
• Individuals with any common infections, such as cold, sore throat, stomach bug, cold sore or infected sore.
• Individuals who had recent tattoo or body piercing,
• Anyone who’s behaviour puts them at risk of blood borne and sexually transmitted infections. (Hepatitis, Syphilis and HIV)
• Anyone who comes from or has recently travelled to a country where there is malaria.
  

Required Information

The basic information required for the donor are:

• Name of the Donor
• Address
• Blood group
• Age
  

Need for the Document

• Donating blood can save people with illness.
• It saves the life of the people who are in need of blood.
  

Information which might help

The blood donors can donate blood in blood camps, blood donation centres, hospitals, and in common blood donation drives conducted by NGO or Government.
