- The first step in Transfer of a mining lease is to obtain the Application Form from the Ministry of Petroleum or the General Authority for Mining, which is the government body responsible for regulating the mining sector in the country.
- The applicant must provide detailed information about the mining operation, such as its location, the type of mineral being mined, estimated production.
- The applicant must also provide evidence of the financial and technical capabilities of the proposed mining operation to be considered and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Once the applicant has completed the Renewal Application Form, they must submit it to the Ministry of Petroleum or the General Authority for Mining, which will include information related to the lease, the leaseholder, and the lease area.
- Once the Renewal Application Form has been submitted, the leaseholder will need to pay a renewal fee, which is typically determined by the size and type of the mining lease. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- Once the Renewal Application Form has been submitted and the fee has been paid, the leaseholder will need to wait for the renewal to be approved by the Ministry of Petroleum or the General Authority for Mining.
- The Ministry will review the application and decide whether to grant a renewal or extension, depending on the particulars of the case.
- Upon approval of the renewal, the leaseholder will be granted a Transfer mining lease from the authority.
