  • To become a dentist in Egypt, one must complete a test with 100 questions and compete against other candidates. The test subjects are Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Literature, Idioms and General Knowledge
  • you must attend a dental school in Egypt if you are to practice dentistry in cairo.
    • Dentistry course is typically a five-year undergraduate course, and is taught at the following state institutions:
  1. Cairo University School of Oral and Dental Medicine;
  2. Ain Shams Dental School;
  3. Suez Canal University School of Dentistry;
  4. Alexandria University School of Dentistry;
  5. Mansoura University School of Dentistry;
  6. Tanta University School of Dentistry;
  7. Al-Azhar University School of Dentistry.
  8. Private dentistry schools also offer undergraduate qualifications in Egypt and government schools offer postgraduate degrees in dentistry.
  • Complete a year's supervised residency at a dental school or hospital in Egypt.
  • This practical component is necessary before you can become a practicing dentist on your own. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health (resource 2), this practical experience can be completed at one of the following hospitals:
  1. Cairo Training Center Hospital Alkhazindara;
  2. Giza Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital Embaba;
  3. Assiut Training Center Hospital;
  4. Alexandria Training Center Muharram Bek Hospital.
  5. Non-hospital training centers are located in Suez,
  6. Dakahlia and Lake Training Center Damanhur
  • You can Join the Egyptian Dental Syndicate.
  • This syndicate, regulated by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, oversees the work of all dental clinics in Egypt.
  • You must enroll in the syndicate before you will be allowed to practice dentistry in Egypt.
  • Begin practicing dentistry in Egypt.
  • You could do this by setting up your own private clinic or you could apply for a job as a dentist with an existing dental facility.
  • Joining an existing practice will likely save you having to purchase your own dental equipment or take on the full responsibility of leasing premises.

  • In order to become a dentist, a 5-year undergraduate degree in dentistry is required,must have the qualification to become a Dentistry.
  • The applicant should be of good conduct, and holds a relevant certificate issued to him/her under any law relating to education and training of dentistry.

  • You must have Joined the Egyptian Dental Syndicate.
  • The Student must complete the 5-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.).Skills capacitation Courses as Post graduation is required in different dental areas which takes between 2 to 3 years.
  • The course's Conclusion must obtain registration and licensing from the nationalized Dental Board of Egypt to obtain the Dentistry Certificate.

Need for the DocumentEdit

According to the Egypt State Information Service, there are currently over 18,000 dentists operating in Egypt, of whom approximately 8,000 are registered with the Egyptian Ministry of Health (reference 5). The number of qualified dentists in the country is increasing every year.

In order to become a dentist, a 5-year undergraduate degree in dentistry is required, followed by a year of practical experience and optional postgraduate study. Free dentistry is provided to Egyptians at the Ahmed Maher Teaching Hospital and the Smuha Center for Dental Research in Alexandria (resource 2). Dentistry is also paid for by health insurance, or directly by patients.
