ProcedureEdit

  1. Submit all the required documents to the consular office.
  2. Pay appropriate fee.


Note:

  • Immediately the Proclamation of Marriage will be published in the Dominican Consulate headquarters making it possible to any third person to pronounce their disagreement to the marriage and to provide evidence to support their protest.
  • Some countries may not require a proclamation to be published. Contact the consular office where you are planning to get married to ask for a list of requirements.
  • Consular offices are entitled to refuse to provide a citizen the service he/she requested, if the consular staff doubt the usefulness for the citizen, and if they think the service will harm the future interests of the Applicant, or that of the Consular Office .

Required DocumentsEdit

For the publication of the Edict or Proclamation of Marriage:

  • Dominican Passport or Electoral Identity Card
  • Birth certificates of the parties
  • Single Status Certificate both parties
  • For the party previously married: divorce decree


For the celebration of the Marriage Ceremony:

  • Have the deadline for publication of the Edict legal or Marriage Proclamation.
  • Four witnesses (one Godfather, one Godmother and two witnesses).

EligibilityEdit

All Dominican citizen have the right to request consular offices of the country for assistance and authorization to hold a Marriage Ceremony at the consulate.



FeesEdit

  • Marriage Edict or Proclamation: 35.00
  • Marriage ceremony: 50.00

The amount payable is in U.S. dollars (USD), in European areas it will be EUROS or in the currency of the country where the Consular Office is.

The amount of application fee varies, depending on the cost of living in the city where the Consular Office is located.

Processing TimeEdit

For the publication of the Edict or Proclamation of Marriage:

  • Processing time may take about 10 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the urgency of the request, the number of previous requests being processed and staff availability.


Celebrating the Marriage Ceremony:

  • After 16 days from the publication of the proclamation of marriage and nobody has objected to the union, the marriage will take place between 3-5 days depending on the urgency, previous applications and the availability of the consulate.
